The storm rages. A torrent of new games, released in numbers greater than any human kind could possibly track, let alone play. It batters inboxes and databases and Twitter feeds at high velocity, a cloud of names and ideas spun into a frenzy by the hopes and dreams and ingenuity of countless game-makers. Once in a while a wonderful concept finds its way to the front of the whirlwind, or a familiar name briefly shines through the chaotic cloud. Today, somewhere in this swirling cavalcade of releases, I caught a glimpse of Telepath Tactics amidst the maelstrom.

This promising army-based RPG with more-than-your-average-bear strategy aspects and destructible terrain caught the eye of Adam back in 2012, but all of a sudden it’s out on Thursday. How time very slowly flies.

Thoughtful Updates: Telepath Tactics

By Adam Smith on February 6th, 2014.

It’s time for our annual visit to the land of Telepath Tactics. No doubt we’ll be dropping in on a more regular basis now that the tactical RPG is nearing completion. Kickstarter funds have kept development on an even keel and while they’re running low, “they’ll be sufficient to [reach] the end of development”. Jolly good news. Developer and good egg Craig Stern has been honing his development and design skills for years now, and TT could be the culmination of his impressive work. The game isn’t due until (approximately) Autumn but recent developer updates show plenty of progress and we’re hoping to go hands-on with an early build in a couple of months. Videos below.

Telepath Tactics Has A New Demo In Mind

By Jim Rossignol on January 24th, 2013.

It’s been a long time since we turned the flame-lidded Eye Of Shotgun towards Telepath Tactics, but the advent of a fresh alpha demo seems like a good time to do that (thanks Blue!) “TT”, as we call it in our games journo dialect, is a sort of Fire Emblem type turn-based tactics thing, and although development seemed slow last year, it’s coming along a treat. You could perhaps take a look. You know, if you’re not too busy.

Developer update video can be found below, if you’d like to see what changes have been made.

Thinking Through It: Telepath Tactics

By Adam Smith on April 17th, 2012.

No mouse support. You have to move them with your mind.

Sinister Design’s latest Telepath RPG had enjoyable turn-based combat but at the beginning of the game, the player’s party are so underpowered that their options are few. Stab, shoot, move. It doesn’t lead to the richest of tactical experiences and even though the discovery of more abilities opened the game up later on, the intricacy of the combat didn’t shine through ’til later. Enter Telepath Tactics, which drops the story, keeps the Middle Eastern steampunk setting and concentrates on combat and combat alone. Mainly multiplayer but with AI to fight against should you wish (I wish). Hopefully it will be ready later this year and there’s a very early video below.
