Ark: Survival Evolved Runs Turkey Trial Till Tuesday

Today’s the day our Stateside friends move their belts up a notch after yesterday’s mashed potatoes and turkey binge. Thanksgiving may be over for another year, but Ark: Survival Evolved [official site] is still running its Turkey Trial event until Tuesday, December 1st. It’s a good old-fashioned turkey hunt, with the twist that harvesting their ‘Super Turkey Wishbones’ will let you craft something special. And there are fire-breathing DodoRexs. Yeah. Need to see that action? I don’t blame you:

Grand Theft Auto Online Plays Thanksgiving Handegg

29! 42! 38! 87! 69! Hut! Hut! Hike! And that’s how the Pilgrims came in 1492 to the land we now know as the United States of A. One genocidal colonisation later, Thanksgiving in November is now a happy time for families to come together to eat pumpkins carved into the shape of turkeys, bicker, argue, threaten to call the police for real this year, and shout “29! 42! 38! 87! 69! Hut! Hut! Hike!” while shoving each other, just as the Pilgrims did all those years ago. This I have learned from watching American sitcoms.

This year, you can even hop into Grand Theft Auto Online [official site] to do pushing in a new American Foosbalt-inspired mode. Numbers not included.

The RPS Super Uplifting And Helpful Holiday Buyer’s Guide

It’s almost Black Friday! Also, I guess that Thanksgiving thing is happening somewhere in between for filthy Americans, but that’s just a warm-up. A sentimental stop-gap. What really matters is making sure you get all the things on the cheap before everyone else does. That’s the real spirit of the season. But you can’t do it alone. You need assistance, aid, a helping hand to pluck out the games that’ll help you get ahead in the race to complete your ill-defined goals. Being the holly jolly consumer that I am, I made a quick video for just that purpose. Because what kind of site would RPS be if it didn’t continue such a time-honored, social-pressure-ridden tradition?

(Note: The Super Uplifting and Helpful Holiday Buyer’s Guide is not in any way liable for any tears shed or sweeping life changes made on account of its patented Uncomfortable Truths. Also, probably don’t take anything it says seriously. It *is* out to get you.)

The Festive Four: Dungeon Defenders DLC

Dignified Defender

Google just told me that today is Thanksgiving for our North American chums, so presumably they get to stay off work, avoid their families and play games all day. In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, Dungeon Defenders is receiving three new chunks of DLC, the first of which is a thematic exploration of the ancient American tradition of gratefully devouring turkeys. It’s a single map with a giant turkey boss and four unlockable costumes, available for no pennies until December 2nd. Further treats come in the form of New Heroes, which provides four new classes that at first appear to be nothing more than gender swaps for the original heroes, but actually have new abilities. Then there is the Warping Core pack, with four new challenges and a smattering of unique loot. Videos and prices below.

GamersGate Not Too Pricey Either

It's not all Steam, you know.

Steam’s not the only place to pick up some gaming bargain’s this sales day, by the way. As the extremely peculiar nature of Black Friday starts to leak out of its host country and start affecting the rest of the world that doesn’t even have Thanksgiving, we’re able to take advantage of the bargains, with none of the serious neck injuries or hurtful comments. And GamersGate has a whole bunch of bargains on at the moment that we’ve not pointed you toward. F’rinstance, Alpha Protocol, £20 on Steam, is 75% off and just £5 over there. Or Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY for £6.79. I can’t be arsed listing them all – what am I, their sales representative? No I am not. But if you’re hunting for bargains and the game you’re after isn’t discounted in Valve’s grey box, you might get lucky. Although I must confess I’m not too impressed with their RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 deal. See below:
