The RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 28

By Kieron Gillen on September 4th, 2009.

It’s been a while since the other two have podcasted. It’s going to be a while yet. But half of the other two and Quinns have got together via the wonders of internetchat to do an electronic wireless show. You can download it here, if you are one of those direct-download sorts. You can also subscribe to it by RSS here, or get it on iTunes from here. Sound quality is a little lower than usual, with some hiss, but everything’s audible, so whining will be frowned at. Kieron will totally buy a better mike soon. Probably this one. No, really.

Topics include, Arkham Asylum, Champions, AI War and much more. The full run-list follows…

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 27

By John Walker on August 26th, 2009.

If there were a logo for the RPS podcast, this is what it would look like.

Imagine a world where there was a new Rock, Paper, Shotgun Electronic Wireless Show to listen to. Imagine harder! You made it happen! Jim and John teleported into the RPS under-sea bunker to record an episode of game-based chitter. With your tweets much frivolity occurs, in what is unquestionably the most edited podcast of all time. Plagued by knocks at the door, madmen strimming outside the window, helicopter attacks and an earthquake, a lot of fun is to be found seeing if you can spot the concealed gaps.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 26

By John Walker on August 11th, 2009.

This is the means by which we illustrate this post.

A million hellos, and fifty welcomes to a new podcast. Jim and John (or “Jihn” as the tabloid press now call them) gathered their arms and legs together and produced a brand new audible recording. And yes, this time it is indeed audible! There’s no rational explanation found in science or myth for why the last one sounded like bad dogs, but it’s back to its usual just-about-good-enough standards. In fact, this week the audio quality is so high you can detect every microscopic creak from John’s creaky chair. This is good. No, it’s good.

In a Twitter Questions Special, the lusciously industrious pair take your queries upon themselves and proffer responses to invigorate and delight.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 25

By John Walker on July 30th, 2009.

At least the picture is clear.

Well crap. Every few months the Podcast Gods demand a sacrifice lest they destroy the Earth, and sadly it befell this week’s podcast. Jim and John gathered in their usual stylish fashion to create a beautiful new podcast for you, created something magnificent, and then discovered after that it sounded like it had been recorded over CB radio at the bottom of a bin. There’s no rational for this. There’s no logic. Same setup as always. So, we’re putting it up, as our voices can be clearly heard, but with our sincere apologies. (Although it’s still better quality than the first few recorded on Kieron’s dictaphone, so it’s all about perspective.) Should you be a fan of the muffle you’ll hear us discuss the role of art direction in games, favourite gaming soundtracks and ponder the potential for a unified gaming platform.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 24

By John Walker on July 17th, 2009.

It's a picture, on top of a post, all covered in writing, and smelling like toast.

What ho! A podcasting we did go. And a merry old blah blah something. Jim and John squeezed into the RPS telephone box to record a new podcast, where we not only mentioned subjects, but then went on to discuss them. Amongst that which exited our mouth was the nature of open world gaming, easter eggs in The Dig, why Bookworm Adventures was great, and what defines an MMO.

The RPS Electronic Wireless Show Episode 22

By John Walker on July 1st, 2009.

It's a picture, on top of a post, all covered in writing, and smelling like toast.

Well cor and blimey, it’s a new podcast. Sorry about the delay since the last – we all lost our feet, and then were trapped by elephants. Recovered and recompiled, Jim and John spoke out loud into a recording microphone, and now offer the result to the warm folds of your ear. Sat on John’s patio, surrounded by cats and revving engines, we soaked in the warm July sun and chatted about matters of PC importance. Matters such as the nature of previewing, Burnout Paradise, and which playground games should be made for PC.

Left 4 Dead 2 – Podcast With Chet Faliszek

By John Walker on June 1st, 2009.

Imagine a big banner boasting Chet's name on this too.

In a world exclusive audio interview, Rock, Paper, Shotgun sat down with Valve’s project lead, Chet Faliszek, to discuss the freshly revealed Left 4 Dead 2.

Within is comprehensive coverage of the new game, the new ideas, the new weapons and campaigns and characters and Infected. You’ll find this nowhere else on the internet. It’s still a Rock, Paper, Shotgun podcast, of course, so there’s also plenty of discussion about our mums, swine flu, and Chet’s horror at John’s foul language. Chet talks not only about the new elements to the game, but also gives us some background as to why Valve chose to make a whole new game, rather than expanding upon the original. There’s also information on how this doesn’t mean L4D is forgotten.

It's a picture at the top of a post about a podcast.

Now we seem to have a website again thanks to Earth’s greatest hero, Johnathan at Positive Internet – everyone switch your hosting over to them now – we can post a podcast! Jim and John gathered, and words were exchanged. We recorded them. Now you listen to them. It’s so simple it just might work.
