Halo There! Spartan Strike Announced

I realise it's meant to be about the struggle of the common man, but I prefer Master Chef: The Professionals myself.

“Everywhere I’m looking now / I’m surrounded by your embrace,” sang Beyoncé. “Baby, I can see your Halo / You know you’re my saving grace.” The idea that one can fix and understood another’s intent is of course absurd, but I still can’t help but feel she’s referring to love rather than Microsoft’s mega-franchise. Halo is flipping everywhere, though. It’s going to be on PC a bit more too, though not in any substantial way.

Microsoft yesterday announced Halo: Spartan Strike, a follow-up to twin-stick shooter Spartan Assault. It’s got more things to shoot, and more things to shoot them with.

Halo: Micro-Transaction Wars

A Halo game is coming to PC! And it’s a handsome-looking top-down shooter called Halo: Spartan Assault. Excitingly it’s ah… ahaha. Oh, no, haha… Oh dear. Touch controls and micro-transactions, is it?

I’m not sure how to say this with a straight face, so I’ll just type it: It’s a Windows 8 exclusive. Microsoft made a game for Windows. But the other Windows. The one for phones and stuff. It’ll still work on your desktop, but… Oof, I suppose I shouldn’t laugh. There’s a trailer, ever so inevitably, below.

Unstomp: Quick Thoughts On Gatling Gears

Ah, that's good tea.
Not all EA games are absent from Steam. New releases are still appearing, such as Gatling Gears. Intriguing! I jumped in for a quick blast. It’s an extremely cute top down shooter of the “twin stick” school, so that means the user employs WASD to move about and the mouse to aim. It has local co-op, too, so they’re going to want a gamepad to play that. Fortunately I had a pad, and a conveniently bored girlfriend, to have a romp through some of the co-op with.
