The devious wee sods. It’s always like this: the Humble Bundle announces its latest pay-what-you-want indie deal, so we duly post about it because the people should know and all that. Then, a few days later, they go and add more games to the bundle, so it seems wise to also post about that. They’ve got us by the short and curlies. Joking aside, clan Bundle’s machinations are becoming perhaps over-obvious by this point, and I do hope there will be updated rather than ritual tactics in future.

For now though, let us celebrate that the Voxatron bundle has seen the excellently screwed-up The Binding Of Isaac and tight puzzler Blocks That Matter added to it.

The power of the Humble Bundle is extraordinary. Their latest sale is not a bundle at all, in fact. It’s not even an old game. It’s a brand new game, Voxatron, that as Adam mentioned this afternoon will eventually be properly released for $15. Right now, in the manner of the previous Humble releases, you can pay what you want, giving as much of that to the three charities as you choose. But here’s why I’m posting about it again: This deal has been alive, at the time of posting, for five and a half hours. And has already made over $112,000. I was typing $111,000 but it just ticked over another grand. That’s along with the 22,000 tweets, 196,000 likes on Facebook, 18,000 Google Pluses, and it’s currently sitting at 994 upvotes on Reddit, at the number one spot on the Gaming page, and number 4 overall. These people get some attention.

Jolly voxel-based isometric shooter Voxatron is now available, in its alpha form, as part of an Indie Humble deal. Not a bundle, just the offering of this one game, which is debuting today, at a price of your choosing. After this, it will be available for $15. I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks and reckon it’s worth every cent of that pricetag, but if you want it cheaper, now’s your chance. The graphics are lovely, as you can see in the new trailer below, but it’s the completely destructible world that most often made me want to applaud with delight, either dramatically when pillars collapsed or in the smaller detail of walls chipping away during fights. Imaginative and fun, this is a fine deal.

Some days it’s hard to coax a smile out of me, usually because I’ve inadvertently pondered the state of the world rather than concentrating on my cocoon of make-believe. There were moments this morning when I thought this might be one such day and that I’d end up typing furious screeds about every terrible piece of news I could find. But the I saw the new trailer for Voxatron, which made everything seem just fine. Better than fine. We’ve had our eyes on this for a while but this is the first new footage since April and it comes with the announcement that the alpha will be available soon for anyone willing to preorder. Take a look.

…which is a videogame news headline if ever I wrote one. It’s also perfectly descriptive of what I am about to talk about, which is the footage posted below. It shows both the editor for Lexaloffle‘s voxel-powered arena-shooter, used for editing things, as well as the sword, which is used for swording stuff. I’ve posted the previous more general action trailer, too, so you can recall the correct category of awesome for this upcoming piece of cleverness.

The game should be out later this year.

Lexaloffle have posted up a preview video of their new game, Voxatron, which is “an arena shooter set in a completely destructible voxel world.” It also appears to have running and jumping elements. There do indeed appear to be voxels, too. This looks totally excellent! Go watch the video, below.
