And there’s the hat-trick of top class indie releases! IGF Student Showcase winner and dark sci-fi adventure game Gemini Rue (previously Boryokudan Rue) will be released today, and a demo has just come out allowing you to sample its rainy, future-noir flavour. The game proper is available from the Wadjet Eye site and the demo is being hosted over on Gamefront here. I’ll be posting some impressions the moment I dig myself out from under this pile of games. At this point I can’t even tell where I end and the games begin. Watch Gemini Rue’s badass trailer (again), plus pt. 1 of a walkthrough of the demo (new!) and read a brief plot synopsis after the jump.

I’m trying to think of a way to link the new puzzle/adventure game from Erin Robinson and Dave Gilbert, Puzzle Bots, to a hung parliament in the UK election… Right, okay, here we go. In this hybrid game you control up to five robots at once, who are all forced to work in coalition with each other in order to complete tasks that would otherwise be impossible on their own. Wadjet Eye Games’ Dave Gilbert has decided to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur by making their Shivah free to download today. All you need to do is go to the buy page and enter the coupon code “FreeShivah”. And lo! A game will be yours. Why should you do this? “Put simply, if you’re into adventures or games that tell stories, Dave Gilbert is one of the guys you should be watching,” says Richard, before pausing to allow us to put a page-break in.

Dave Gilbert first grabbed people’s attentions with his adventure game, The Shivah. His deft touch with the AGS engine, and ability to tell simply, emotional tales, saw him and his developer, Wadjet Eye Games, win a bunch of awards. The series he’s known for now, the Blackwell stories, has recently released its third instalment: The Blackwell Convergence. Here’s wot I think.
Fans of Dave Gilbert’s Wadjet Eye Games should already be looking forward to The Blackwell Convergence. The creator of some really fantastic independent adventure gaming, like the award winning The Shivah, and the previous Blackwell games, Legacy and Unbound, has been building up to The Blackwell Convergence for quite a while, and now there’s a new series of teaser cartoons to build up to the 30th June release.
