Rebirth Reborn: Wanderlust Adventures

By Adam Smith on June 20th, 2014.

If you have ever played and enjoyed Secret Of Mana, you may already be aware of Wanderlust: Rebirth, a top-down action RPG with combat and graphics reminiscent of Square’s real-time battler. Wanderlust Adventures is a sequel/spin-off to Rebirth, expanding into a free-roaming open world, as the ‘Wanderlust’ of the title always suggested. The freedom of exploration aside, the big draw for Adventures is stronger online implementation. The game can be played with three chums cooperatively, or with up to eight players in competitive modes. Connections will be handled through Steam’s network API rather than, allowing for ‘seamless’ shenanigans.

Starbound Receives Support From Wanderlust: Rebirth

By Adam Smith on July 20th, 2012.

Starbound looks less like Terraria in space and more like just a heck of a lot of awesome stuff in space, with the randomly generated aliens a particular highlight of the features shown so far. Perhaps you would like to throw money at the developers, as is so often the case with internet people, although rarely if ever the action of a person in the real world. Well, you can’t. There’s no Kickstarter or alpha funding here. However, Yeti Trunk, creators of mad co-op RPG Wanderlust: Rebirth are supporting Starbound by offering a percentage of Steam earnings to help with development costs. Chucklefish are bringing Wanderlust to Steam on July 27th.

Revenge Of The Bundle: IndieFort

By Alec Meer on April 6th, 2012.

I also have wanderlust. I also have laziness, which means it's highly unlikely I'm leaving this chair any time soon

Emergency! Emergency! The world is running out of words to put after ‘indie’ when coming up with new pay-what-you-want bundle titles. Gamersgate have opted for ‘fort’ as theirs, with that perhaps unintended sideeffect that when I think IndieFort I picture a castle wearing a checked shirt and some black-framed plastic spectacles. Oh well! The roster of included games is fairly impressive in this one, and has a bit of a roleplaying skew rather than the usual barrange of faux-vintage platformers and shmups. We get 2D space sim Black Market, hardy roguelike Cardinal Quest, free-roaming samurai roleplaying Kenshi, hovertank shooter Steel Storm: Burning Retribution, hardcore dungeon-crawler dungeon-crawling Devil Whiskey, and high-speed co-op RPG Wanderlust: Rebirth.

But There’s Also: Wanderlust: Rebirth

By Jim Rossignol on January 14th, 2012.

Okay, looks like RPS is Top-Down RPG News today, because I’m just going to point you at indie RPG Wanderlust, which is a neat little game in the spirit of early Zelda/Secret Of Mana and so on. It can be played single player or co-operatively online, which is a hell of a feature set for a little game like this, and it seems to be a remarkable labour love overall. There’s a free trial version with the first few chapters of the game for you to play which you can download here. Definitely worth a look if you are inclined towards such tremendous pixel-art cuteness.
