Dreaming Of UI: Lucid

Not the sort of thing I’d normally link to, but as I sit and listen to Quinns and my Podcast, I find myself playing the new matching-colour game. It’s a matching colour game It’s well presented. You can play whilst listening to Quinns be dry and me be a stuttering buffoon. You can get it from here – though the demo is more than a little short – or watch the footage below…

  1. Code Monkey says:

The footage looks pretty good. Might try playing the demo later.

In other news – has anybody noticed the release of TF2 Bots in Beta?

  2. Heliocentric says:

Rock, paper Sudoku is my favourite match 3 browser game blog.

  3. Brumisator says:

I’ve played around with the TF2 bots on the servers I administrate, and I must say they’re not half bad!
They seem to have problems in ctf games (some bots don’t move at all), but for CP, they’re great.
Not very smart, they stand stationary a lot, but at close range, it’s hard to differentiate between a bot and a human player.

On-topic: bleh, colour matching, I’d rather play Osmosis as a casual game.

    • yutt says:

Their AI doesn’t support any modes besides KotH on specific maps.

    • Brumisator says:

I’m terribly sorry for having actually tried the bots and not just read that TF2 blog post…
If you build the nav map (like in ye olde counter strike days), the bots will function to a degree in other maps too, and work splendidly well in the newly released CP_gorge, I guess because it’s a linear CP game with only opne capture point available at a time.
I’d fiddled around with them since the last update when they were introduced, and I wondedered why they had trouble with multiple CPs…I guess there’s my alswer, they aren’t designed to understand it yet.

Overall, a good start, loads more work needed, though.

  4. Hypocee says:

??? So! It’s the age-old group collapse game with a more fiddly interface. Wait, they want money for it?

    • Urthman says:

Hypocee, Lucid is clearly at least 16% prettier than all the competing flash & freeware collapse games.

And maybe a full 37% shinier.

I read your profile today and it was so good to me.i feel you are the only one missing in my entire life so i decided to stop on and let you know that i am interested to be a friend first. When the fight begins within himself, a man’s worth something

  6. TeeJay says:

I’m confused about the TF2 Bots – I thought they already existed (and appeared as players with -1ms ping). I have occasionally come across late-night pay-load maps full of silent bot?/players? building sentries at random locations and repeatedly running straight at the enemy regardless of danger. Are these bots or have I just discovered some very wierd Russian servers full of wierdos?
