Grand Ages Expansion As Download

Grand Ages: Rome wasn’t a bad city management game (with some mild RTS combat elements), but I’d probably buy Tropico 3, which was by the same team in the same engine. If you’re already gone to that Roman place then you might be interested to hear that the expansion has hit as a download (at GamersGate, but other portals are apparently imminent). It’s called Reign Of Augustus and it’s got twelve more missions, six new multiplayer maps, four new building types, new talents for each family, and the ability to connect your city to the Roman roads. There’s also a sandboxian God Mode for unlimited resources play, which sounds like something that should have been in the vanilla game, to me… Trailer in the below.

enjoyed the vanilla game quite a bit. will probably pick up this expansion some time in the future. pricepoint is ok, just don’t have time for it any time soon.

Glad I’m not the only one who liked this. Reading user comments on other threads or sites, there’s a sort of collective “Meh” coming from the gaming crowd.

Unnecessary trivia – two of my friends used to work for the company which eventually became Kalypso. There are some great memories from that time…

  3. Jimbo says:

I would say Grand Ages: Rome was exactly my 7th favourite game of last year. But I don’t know if I need any more of it just yet.

  4. Blackberries says:

I played the demo last year and was fairly enjoying it until I started having to engage in combat. That pretty much killed my interest stone dead. Perhaps I should give it another go though.
