Get Games Go Indie Pack, Other Stuff

We mentioned this new download service before Christmas, when it could only offer a cheap Serious Sam HD, but now it’s up and running for proper, and we’re hoping it will be good place to get lower profile and PC indie games. It already has an indie games pack to kick off with, which is a Trine, Machinarium and Eufloria bundle. I suppose that might not be the best bundle to point you lot at, because you’re bound to have one of these games already, but anyway, it’s £29.95 for all three titles together, which is a reasonable way to catch three of the best indies from last year. I’m sure Lewie will keep an eye on this to point out any future bargainous recommendations.

In other indie sales news, it’s worth taking a look at the Natural Selection 2 / Overgrowth pre-order post-mortem, where the Wolfire team examines the success of promoting two as-yet-unreleased indie titles.

Right, I understand the ‘need’ to ‘make money’ and all that, but how can any new digital download service hope to enter the market with prices such as Men of War for £24.99? Amazon can get me a boxed copy for £10 and Steam offer it for £12.

OK, publishers set their own prices, I get that – but surely there should be some ‘oi, common sense please’ clause in any contracts GG sign?

Eufloria’s great. Maybe hard to justify what they were charging for it, given how good the free Dyson is, but it’s still very good fun.

    • Javier-de-Ass says:

@ frightlever and the men of war gold thing is still 50% off from gamersgate

  2. destroy.all.monsters says:

    You Kay only I see.

As Opti above me said – prices are pretty terrible.

  3. Javier-de-Ass says:

heh. seems completely pointless with those prices.

  4. Ginger Yellow says:

“I suppose that might not be the best bundle to point you lot at, because you’re bound to have one of these games already”

Or all of them. And all at full price, too. Damn my impatience.

  5. Carra says:

Already bought both Trine & Machinarium in the Christmas steam deals. Finished Trine and it’s a very fun platform game. Still have to try out Machinarium.

Oh, got to say that it’s one ugly site.

  6. LewieP says:

Yeah, I think they are probably going to have to do better than that. Each of those games been available for significantly less than a tenner (Trine was £4.24, Amanitai complete pack (Machinarium, Samorost 2 and both OSTs) was £5.97 and Eufloria was £7.49), but as you rightly say, lots of people are likely to have at least one already, making the entire bundle redundant.

If they really want to get people’s attention, they are going to need to do better than Steam’s short term crazy mega discounts I think.

Unfortunately the new image hotlinking protection prevents images from being viewed in RSS readers like :<

Well, they just started this, and I welcome a new digital download service. But for now it does a poor job explaining to me what they are selling and how the service works.

From the front page to the checkout process I get no hint what they are selling: subscriptions? purchases? Under which conditions? This information actually exist (incomplete) on the page, but it is well hidden behind a link titled Support and getting in touch -> “I’m having Problems unlocking the game”.

Another problem is that so far Creditcard is the only payment method. Paypal and Google Checkout are much better for impulse purchases, especially if you are new on the market and nobody can trust you.

I’m sure that page will look much different a year from now.

Usually, teachers are willing to examine the argumentative term paper creative writing ability of some their students, however not all good students are able to write professionally because of lack of time and other things. Hence, a essay writing service would help to create the persuasive term paper in a short period of time.
