Kick Ass, Ads, Content, Pictures, Menu Bars…

It's site suicide!

Fancy shooting this website to bits? Head here, add the bookmark, and then click it while on any site. WASD steers, Space shoots, and you can blast any at website you choose. (I’m amused to note our current ads are indestructible.) Why not go to any of our rivals and fire holes in their websites? And in the game. There doesn’t appear to be any authorship credit on the site, so thanks to whoever made this. And cheers to Kim for the tip.

(Oh boy, now I get to Pew Pew my Pew Pew Pew)

  2. Deanb says:

Unfortunate side effect: After messing around for a while with it you are unable to comment and express your enthusiasm for this little time waster.
You’ll need to make the comment box Asteroid proof next time.

  3. LewieP says:

I just shot you in the name, John.

  4. Durkonkell says:

This is most excellent! I just expected it to make blocks of the screen disappear or something, not for it to actually modify the webpage I’m currently on, obliterating entire articles and frames.

For the record, it appears to be made by someone known as “erkie” who is probably known in reality as erik.rothoff or perhaps something similar.

  5. Miles says:

This would be so much better with the old cosmos background. I miss it dearly.

Neat. Reminds me of a late 90’s SegaSoft PC app called Web Vengeance that let you blast holes in web pages with different weapons.

I am the destroyer of websites!

  16. John Peat says:

OK – time to make it more challenging…

Base score on the sum of the ascii value of text in the object destroyed – limit the game to 15 seconds after loading – store highscores by domain name – profit??

  17. Wilson says:

    This is actually brilliant.

  18. Dhatz says:

doesn’t work on ubuntu we have at school(and the comps are slow)

  19. spooglywoogly says:

It can also be loaded multiple times by reclicking the bookmark to give you a fleet of spaceships :)

  20. Devenger says:

Phew, the fleet didn’t hit the comments box.

This is great. Thanks for the link. Erik Rothoff is one cool guy, evidently.

Needles to say, I like this thing.

  22. haircute says:

Seems like lately Metafilter has been getting the drop on you fellows. I heard about this from there before I saw it here. Which makes me sad because metafilter has like one person who has any clue when it comes to games.
