Here’s A Game Which Exists: Hot Throttle

Reminds me of the RPS Company Barbecue '08.

How’s this for another proud example of why the PC is the most wordly and intelligent gaming platform in existence. Hot Throttle is a new browser racing game where instead of cars you control men who believe they are cars. It’s a collaboration by Doomlaser and indie powerhouse Cactus, though I suspect if Cactus were really a house he’d be an overpopulated squat with an unidentifiable corpse in the upstairs bathtub. You can watch some footage of Hot Throttle after the jump in the form of someone’s video review, plus two more secret bonus videos! Yes. Thanks to the Indie Games blog for the tipoff (and header image! I am cheeky).

Adult Swim seem to be trying to make a name for themselves on the flash game front. First we get a new Messhof game, and now this. Interesting.

Also, I quite like Cactus’ edit of his acceptance speech for the IGF Nuovo award this year. He won it for the as-yet unreleased Tuning, which I guess I’ll post the trailer for too.

Cactus terrifies me. In a good way.

  2. Avenger says:

    “Hot Throbble” ?

  3. sassy says:

Wow that was easier then the reviewer lead me to believe.

It was mildly entertaining but didn’t really enjoy the fact that my guy went through an *spoiler* an operation to turn into a car at the end.

  4. brulleks says:

Less of a game, more of a revealing psychoanalysis of Top Gear presenters.

  5. Colonel J says:

Glancing at the titles of the videos after the jump my first thought was wondering what the band Tunng has to do with it this. And then disappointment.

    • Quine says:

I’m sure there’s a joke about failing the Tuning test in there somewhere…

  6. Optimaximal says:

My brain saw ‘Full Throttle’… My eyes cried.

  7. CMaster says:

    That was pretty bizarre.

  8. Giant, fussy whingebag says:

‘ you control men who believe they are cars’ – sheer genius.

  9. Navagon says:

Why do console gamers even bother? Their lives must seem so empty when they look over the fence and see we have games like this. Yes indeed, it is a banana.

  10. Cooper says:

  11. Pemptus says:

Oh Cactus, what have you done again? At any rate, please continue doing that.

First thing I thought of when I saw that Cactus “speech”.
