Pork Chop: Super Meat Boy In Choplifter HD

Fancy meating you here.

In one of the odder cameos of recent memory, developers inExile have confirmed that Meat Boy (of Super Meat Boy) will be appearing in Choplifter HD, their upcoming “reimagining” of 1982 title Choplifter. Why? Well, why not? But wait, there’s more! The new trailer you’ll find after the jump shows that Choplifter HD will also boast zombies that’ll eat VIPs and cling to your helicopter. That’s innovation, right there.

All told, this is starting to look like a reimagining pieced together with enthusiasm, if not necessarily imagination, but so long as the script keeps up a steady stream of those B-movie one-liners I think I’ll have myself a good time.

    Inevitable zombie apocalypse.

I’ll probably pick it up eventually. Looks like a fun diversion based on old school sensibilities, like Duke Nuke Manhattan Project.

  2. airtekh says:

One of my earliest gaming memories is playing Choplifter on my cousin’s Atari console.

I’ll be getting this even if it’s just for the nostalgia.

  3. Monchberter says:

This needs to be added to Left 4 Dead. :D

  4. Mashakosha says:

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I had my choplifter experience on the Master System. Its difficulty curve was akin to hitting a brick wall. Or a stalagmite.

  5. DevilSShadoW says:

There will probably be a left 4 dead easter egg in there somewhere.

  6. Outsider says:

Zombies? I never would have considered making a game or movie about people who appear to be rotting corpses but are still mobile and homicidal, nor would I have considered adding that element to an entirely unrelated game. This is brilliantly innovative.

  7. stahlwerk says:

It seems like a fun game, although the first setting (brown desert) doesn’t cluck with me. I hope the hendling of the chopper is on meat boy levels of tightness. But I don’t approve of mindless avecide. Won’t somebody think of the chickens?

  8. MrCraigL says:

Makes me crave for a new [whatever]Strike. Looks fun though.

    • Johnny Lizard says:

      Desert? Counter? Miner’s?

    • radomaj says:

He most probably meant Desert/Jungle. Ah, the Amiga. Good times.

    • Bobtree says:

Mercenaries (PS2, Xbox – not 360 compatible) by Pandemic was originally conceived as a game in the -Strike series. I very highly recommend it (original only, the sequel was a very mixed bag).

  9. Fumarole says:

I pumped so many quarters into these cabinets as a youth I’m amazed I didn’t put my parents into the poor house. I’m glad to see landing on prospective rescuees is still in the game.

  10. Tatourmi says:

It seems like an amazing game to me so far, if you forget the graphics.

  11. Tei says:

Wow!… thats looks like a great fun game!. I love the variety of it :D

  12. Sinnorfin says:

    Looks superfun!

  13. FRIENDLYUNIT says:

At first I was rolling my eyes in disgust at the idea of adding zombies to yet another game… But after seeing the video it’s actually a nice mechanic. They could have easily been suicide bombers or something but that would have been equally or possibly even more droll.

  14. Tams80 says:

Fucking zombies. ALWAYS gatecrashing my parties. Their so rude as well!
