Mineception: Minecon’s Official Trailer

Who invited that creeper? We know you’ve spend all day hitting F5 just for this, and finally the moment has arrived: Minecon’s official trailer is here. It shows the journey of Minecraft’s default avatar, Steve, from his lovely forest-based house all the way to Minecon. The con has been created in Minecraft. It’s so meta that I want to check that I’m writing this in the real world, and not some sort of facsimilie. Pinch me. No, not there. Lower…

How it was made is also lots of fun.

    Thumbs up-wup-wup!

  2. Hoaxfish says:

God, what a bunch of squares

  3. DickSocrates says:

With all the world’s Minecraft fans in one place, plus the god of Minecraft, this would be a perfect opportunity to rid the world of this cultish menace.

    • jacobvandy says:

Lol, the game has sold 4 million copies… How many people do you think fit in that Mandalay Bay convention center?

    • SmoothUK says:

“How many people do you think fit in that Mandalay Bay convention center?”

    • yutt says:

Is an implied threat of terrorism against a particular game’s fans allowed under the RPS’ comment rules?

    • adonf says:

@yutt: It’s allowed under the Roger Rabbit rule that supersede the RPS rules, so yes.

  4. Inigo says:

The smell’s going to be horrific.

  5. Futurecast says:

    • Futurecast says:

Does anyone know how to set an avatar for RPS comments?

    • Kaira- says:

Gravatar. And it’s pretty neat, apparently most WordPress-blogs can use the avatars via Gravatar.

    • Flukie says:

Battlelog uses it too, if you change it here, it will probably change there too.

    • dontnormally says:

Replying to see if my avatar changed.

Edit: Cool, it didn’t. Well that’s exciting.

    • Durkonkell says:

Make sure you are using the same e-mail address with your RPS account as with Gravatar.

Otherwise, it usually updates pretty quickly.

    • stahlwerk says:

Gravatars aren’t cached by wordpress, you can simply refresh the browser to see if it changed.

  6. sneetch says:

That was a bit of a cliff hanger, I thought someone would block Steve’s path.

  7. LimeWarrior says:

I’ve been following these gents on youtube. They are absolutely hilarious.

  11. Tei says:

I have not played minecraft in eons. The last time because my 2,5 years old cusing forced me to launch the game in a visit. Theres grass now and more variety on the biomes.

  12. Koozer says:

First thing I noticed: the 11th Doctor.

Am I really the only person that is put off by the recent trend of dubstep in game trailers? This is the second one today on here.

    • Jackablade says:

I’m put off by the recent trend of dubstep existing.

    • Bearrorist says:

Oh God. Can you imagine if they started putting dubstep tracks in movies? No one would be that big of an asshole, right? Right?

      Phasma Felis says:

I only became aware that dubstep was a Thing, like, two days ago.

I’m pretty in favor of it so far.
