The Lyrical Mermaid: Water

Coincidentally, my neighbour is cooking kippers right now, so I had a sort of smellovision for this trailer

If there’s one downside of having an SSD as your main hard drive, it’s that you find yourself aggressively removing any and all games you’re not convinced you’ll play any time soon. And so it is that I have no Source-powered games on my PC right now, and need to sit through a 5GB SDK download just to play this 200MB mod. While I wait, I’ll show you what it is I’m waiting for – Water is a mini HL2 mod about a singing Mermaid with magic powers who isn’t wearing a shirt. No Jamaican lobsters and crying here though: this puzzle-blessed action-adventure makes fish-people all grimdark, by the look of things.

Download Water yourself from here. I’ll take a look soon, once my SSD is fat with 5GB of Source SDK. Meantime, I have dragons to shout at.

That is not how singing works underwater. Looks intriguing, though.

“Its beginning to look a lot like fish-men…”

  2. MrSing says:

    Free bobies? :>

    • mod the world says:

Oh noes, i hope it was checked for mysogenical stuff.

  3. AN_D_K says:

    “No Jamaican lobsters…”

    You just lost me.

This helps a lot with SSDs and steam, apparently.

    • neolith says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
I’ve been looking for something like that for ages…

Also, the Nerd way (if you are as resilient as me to install 3rd party soft):

Exit Steam. MOVE your game’s folder from Steamapps folder to the other Drive.

Open command prompt with admin privileges (right click -> Run as Admin)
      mklink /J c:\Programs\Steam\Steamapps\common\FolderName d:\Backup\Steam\FolderName

remember to use “” whenever you’ve got spaces on the path, such as
C:\Program files , should be “C:\Program files” eg:

      mklink /J “C:\Program Files(x86)\MyNotPornFolder” “D:\not my porn folder”

Have fun with the command prompt!

I was actually trying to figure my way around this for Skyrim.

    • Baboonanza says:

      Even better:
      – start the download
      – pause download on 1%
      – create the link using command prompt, DirLinker or the tool above
      – resume download

That avoids the annoying stage of copying the whole game between HDs

  5. neolith says:

    So…. hooray for no shirt?

  6. Post-Internet Syndrome says:

    Great… singing.

  7. Torgen says:

So, actually a siren rather than a mermaid.

    • zbeeblebrox says:

I’m listening to that singing now…and if that’s a siren, they are WAAAY over-hyped :p

  8. Rossjg says:

I hope you guys enjoy it. There’s a boob.
