Huh: Cannon Fodder 3 Released On GamersGate

Underwater boat!
The Cannon Fodder games are inserted deeply within the Fond Memories Gland of many of the RPS team. It was therefore surprise that we learned that a third Cannon Fodder game would be released in Russia. It is with even more surprise that we discover, via Strategy Informer, that an English version has been released on GamersGate. I’ve not had a look at it yet, so I can’t gauge the entertainment value, but we’ll try to amend that soon. (The total lack of fanfare makes me raise an eyebrow, of course.) In the meantime: this.

  1. Brumisator says:

    Let’s hope it’s any good.
Any chance of getting a Wot I think?

  2. Hoaxfish says:

This feels a bit like those guys you find hiding on tropical islands that still think the war is on.

  3. UnravThreads says:

Just to point out GamersGate is claiming it’s an exclusive there.

  4. GT3000 says:

Played the demo, it’s a pleasant surprise. It appears that they’ve stuck to the original’s spirit with a few modern amenities here and there.

  5. fauxC says:

The starting soldiers had better be called Jools and Jops or there’ll be trouble.

    • tehfish says:

Don’t forget Stoo, he was always my favourite :D

    • Rei Onryou says:

      Not forgetting RJ!

    • djbriandamage says:

It’s incredible how much I grew to care about those little fellows and would lament their splattered passing. Giving names to NPCs that persist through levels, increase in skill, and become conspicuously absent with their deaths is such an engaging idea.

      As you were, Stoo.

    • Hanban says:

Reminds me of myself as a kid sitting and staring at the sizable graveyard I had accumulated just listening to the music!

      Oh Jools..

    • Sheng-ji says:

My memory fails me after that!

    • Koozer says:

      ‘Tadger’? O.o

  6. Dana says:

CF2 has better main theme, just saying.

  7. fuggles says:

I’m curious as to why the original article said it was surprisingly racist?

    • Unaco says:

It didn’t. The original article said it was an “awful lot racist”. There’s no surprise about the racism… there’s just a lot of it. It’s bursting at the seams with barely contained racism, just waiting, eager to burst out all over your PC and monitor. If that happens, you’ll want to wipe it off quick, otherwise it leaves streaks.

It was John Walker who wrote the previous article and mentioned it… so he’d have to tell you what he meant.

    • fuggles says:

Okay, well as someone who hasn’t played it and IS surprised that a game is racist, can someone provide some examples?

  8. Drake Sigar says:

This is the first time I’ve heard the Cannon Fodder song since childhood, and it’s so much funnier now that I understand the lyrics.

  9. Lemming says:

Yeah the main cannon fodder theme was fun, but for me this was always the more memorable part of it:

And holy fuck they made it as an actual song!

  10. NaloaC says:

After having watched the trailer/gameplay footage, it looks rather disheartening :/
Seems more akin to some terrible mobile phone ringtone subscription moreso than CF of lore…

  11. gen YonderBrack says:

oh my childhood! nostalgia overload ;]

  12. CKScientist says:

There have been a few suprisingly good games to come quietly out of Russia.

Did anyone place Space Wolves? It’s a great series.
