Landing On Steam: Fly’N Greenlit

Fly’N, Ankama’s exquisite and charming botanical platformer, is due to launch on the 9th of November, which just so happens to be tomorrow. It’ll be available on Steam, as the the Green Light of commerce has reflected kindly upon it, and there’s a new trailer to celebrate the release. If I hadn’t played with Rayman’s Oranges this year, I think I’d be handing Fly’N the ‘platformer wot has the most colours in it’ award for 2012. If Fly’N was a broth, which is isn’t, then the ingredients might include a sprinkle of Rayman, a dash of Pixeljunk: Eden and a drop of Botanicula.

Newgrounds is host to a simple side-scrolling prequel game. You can play that right now if you’d like to. No pressure.

  4. GameCat says:

It have also quite good lookin’ gameplay.

  5. mseifullah says:

I feel like that trailer just stole my money because there’s no way I can go without buying it now.

  6. zaphos says:

    Wow this looks really good.

  7. I want to stab you to death and play around with your blood. says:

Excellent music in the trailer. It reminds me of a few Secret Chiefs 3 epics. Hopefully it appears in the game.

  8. ulix says:

Can someone please tell me if Towns (a Greenlight game that just came out) is any good? Is it finished? Or is it more of a beta version you have to pay for?

    • Faceinstien says:

I got Towns in that indie royale (or was it indie gala?) alpha bundle thingie and absolutely loved it, back then it was great fun but lacked a few key mechanics which I understand they’ve added now but I haven’t played it in a while. It’s a really good town management game, takes a bit of getting used to/learning all the different bits but once you get the hang of it it’s incredibly rewarding!

    • Karl says:

It’s still not finished. I highly suggest reading through the Steam-forum before buying.

  9. MOKKA says:

A few minutes ago I said to myself that I would not spend any money on games for the next few weeks. Then I saw the trailer.
Thankfully games like this are usually pretty cheap.

By the way, has anybody an Idea if this game is going to be available outside Steam?

  10. Gap Gen says:

It does look very Rayman, doesn’t it? Which is naturally a most superb thing to look.

  11. SuperNashwanPower says:

I want to play this with a microswitch joystick with just a fire button. So many games on my C64 and Amiga were 2d cutesy games. It feels off to play them with m&k or gamepad.

That said my mates had speccys and NES’s. They would feel right at home.

  12. MadTinkerer says:

Looking nice. I’ll be getting this later.

  13. Cytrom says:

Surprisingly great looking for a game with such a stupid name.

  14. Richeh says:

The level structure is reminding me a lot of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet.

    A good thing.
