Crossover To Bear: Left 4 Dead 2 Meets Resi 6

Pretend that you didn’t read anything on the internet last week so that I can tell you about a keerrraazy new crossover that you won’t believe. Left 4 Dead 2 and Resident Evil 6. I know, right? When you’ve gathered the pieces of your mind, now blown into giblets, indulge me for a moment longer and act like you didn’t know that the survivors from Valve’s co-op sequel will be selectable in Capcom’s lurching horror. Mini-tanks and witches will also appear in the No Mercy game mode, which is part of the ‘Mercenaries’ minigame. Some Resident Evil monsters will also appear in Left 4 Dead 2. They’re called the Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman, and I can’t work out which has the silliest name. There’s a video below.

Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil 4 was a pleasant diversion but that video right there? That didn’t look pleasant or diverting at all.

In a carefully worded press release, Chet Faliszek of Valve said: “We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it.” Weirdly, he didn’t go on to add that Valve would have been far happier if their characters could have appeared in Resident Evil 4 instead.

    Those are Slavic words.
Lepotitsa – beauty (as a female)
    Napad – attack
    Ogroman – huge

  2. aequidens says:

I’m more excited to see what will be added to l4d2 then.

  3. welverin says:

    Chet changed his name?

  4. Ayam says:

Coach going stuntman, Nick going ninja, Ellis going Jet Li and Rochelle going Rothrock – was most disappointing they didn’t say anything amusing during the entire vid. :(

  5. Text_Fish says:

L4D characters are too badass for silly karate kicks.

  6. SkittleDiddler says:

Ah, good old Valve. Investing in cross marketing with a universally-panned video game while continuing to ignore the most basic issues that have been haunting Steam for years. Golf clap.

    • thegooseking says:

Yeah, I heard that Valve only has three employees who do everything and don’t, as is commonly thought to be the case, employ a large number of people with a wide diversity of skillsets, too.

      • SkittleDiddler says:

Honestly, it’s hard to tell given the way Steam performs these days. Three overworked employees forced into an unmanageable schedule, or a large number of employees who are allowed to work on whatever they want? The results are the same.

  7. Drake Sigar says:

Oh. I thought it was a joke mod for a moment.

  8. captain nemo says:

hmmm… Love L4D, but Resi Evil leaves me cold

  9. DrollRemark says:

    That looks godawful.

  10. rockman29 says:

    It looks… it looks…!

    …just as boring as RE6…

  11. Blinky343 says:

    Looks fine to me.

  12. BooleanBob says:

    It’s clearly a Fhqwhgad.

Anyway, I thought it looked like silly fun.

  13. goettel says:

    No co-op ?

    No buy.

  14. EPICTHEFAIL says:

Wait, isn`t Coach supposed to have a bad knee? Also, if the name Napad is given to the Hunter, I`ll be cross. Seriously, it doesn`t fit at all.

  15. Jupiah says:

I wonder if this means Capcom might be open to the idea of adding steam workshop support to the game? Modding support could really save Resident Evil 6 from being completely mediocre.

  16. mrjayeye says:

Nice to see what Valve characters look like with good graphics and not on a 10 year old engine.
