The Rules Of How To Survive

It is the future, the year 2013. As technology adapts to the very specific needs of the human race, we are presented with a series of precise options: which exact flavour of survival game do you need to satisfy your apocalyptic escapism? In the case of How To Survive it’s an action RPGish thing, with you beating your way across an island full of the formerly-dead. Take a look at the latest trailer – premised on the rules needed to survive this trouble – below.

Echoes of a few notable zombie films there – but is it enough to grab the attention of a gaming audience already neck-deep in the undead? We’ll find out on October 23rd.

  1. SkittleDiddler says:

    A zombie game? Well, I’ll be a virus-infected monkey’s uncle…

  2. MrEvilGuy says:

I like the look of that (customizable?) shelter.

  3. armchaircowboys says:

That actually looks quite enjoyable. Even if it is, yet another zombie game.

    • Syra says:

Indeed I could see myself playing it for a while…. depending on how well the mechanics work though.

  4. Ninja Foodstuff says:

I saw this pop up on Steam yesterday. Looks like it could be good mindless fun, much like Nation Red. Not sure what manner of game it’s supposed to be though. Do you just play until you die or is there some greater purpose to it?

EDIT: Went in search of clues at the official site and entered my DOB as 1/1/1 and now I can’t get in :(

  5. daphne says:

The game’s name left a good impression on me. It seems somebody out there is chill enough not to take themselves or their game too seriously.

  6. cpt_freakout says:

Well, it looks quite fun. I hope it satiates my zombie hunger while State of Decay comes out.

  7. Jexiah8bit says:

They could make a million zombie games for all I care if they are fun to play.

  8. almostDead says:

This looks like a very simple game. Can anyone who has taken the plunge give impressions please?

    • Wisq says:

Only if someone has a review copy, because it’s not out yet.

    • Shadowcat says:

I think you have a weird idea of “very simple”, given what looks like a significant network of equipment-crafting possibilities, and a heap of stats and skills to influence how the game plays.

  9. strangeloup says:

Alternative interpretation, as my last comment was eaten by the slavering undead: it could be Dead Island But Not Shit.
