The Rock, Paper, Podcast: Enter The Cyberzone

Gosh! Such a lot has happened since last episode of the weekly Rock, Paper, Shotgun podcast. It’s almost hard to comprehend how so many events could happen in just seven days. Luckily, John, Jim and Graham have chosen just the most important happenings to talk about on the episode itself. Topics include Jim’s thoughts on Lichdom: Battlemage, Graham’s thoughts on Brigador, John’s thoughts on a game he can’t name yet.

Come, step below to listen and rejoice. We’re great at this.

Also discussed this week is the very recent release of Watch_Dogs, the more recent release of Mountain, how Early Access has made game releases less exciting, the favourite things we’ve played this year, Cyberzone and the career of Craig Charles, and more.

  1. Tei says:

Thats not a radio. Thats a children size toaster. As in.. you can put a whole children inside, and it will toast.

  2. Crusoe says:

You brought it back, AND it’s not supporter only.

    Okay, I love you again.<3

Please keep it up, I've wanted the podcast to be a regular feature for such a long time.

  4. Anthile says:

So that’s how you pronounce Rossignol…

    • gorgonaut says:

As soon as I heard, I knew what was going to happen. You may now collect your paycheck from Horace.

  5. ReV_VAdAUL says:

This was great. Bedtime chat offers a unique insight into games journalism that no other podcast is brave enough to provide. Seriously though, very entertaining.

  6. Ginger Yellow says:

I remember Cyberzone. Objectively it was pretty crap, taking the worst bits of Gamesmaster and combining it with a lowest common denominator persona from Craig Charles (awooga!) and the rather crappy state of then-extant VR. But it was awesome that it existed on prime time TV at all.

    • DrScuttles says:

Yeah, if anyone can find more than that one surviving Youtube clip, I’d love to watch it again.

  7. Low Life says:

So, uh, are you going to try and do this weekly from now on? I don’t want to set up the feed in my podcast app only to be let down again :(

  8. Cross says:

Judging from the release dates, the super secret poo-poo game is probably either Borderlands PS or Alien Isolation. (Probably the latter)

    • romanlevin says:

      I would guess Sherlock Holmes.

Alien definitely doesn’t make sense since it’s not part of a series.

      • Cross says:

Not the same developer, i grant you, but it is coming off the heels of Colonial Marines.

        • romanlevin says:

Not the same developer or series. You might as well consider Shadows of Mordor in this case.
Though Alien is not impossible, I will vehemently chastise Mr. Rossignol for his imprecise speech if that turns out to be the case.

    • somnolentsurfer says:

My first thought was Dragon Age, but hopefully the later discussion means it’s not that.

    • Dave L. says:

Graham’s statement about the trailers making it look much better than previous entries in the series, and John’s statements about just how bad it is makes me think it’s CoD: Advanced Warfare, but I don’t know if they usually provide review code six weeks in advance, even embargoed.

  9. DXN says:

Huzzah! More of this sort of thing please!

  10. heretic says:

yes!!!! more of this please please please!!! next time you do a DnD you should put a recorder on as well

I can hardly believe you’re bringing back the Shotcast.
I <3 you guys so much!

Any chance of Kieron or Quinns making a guest appearance some time in the future?

  14. Wowbagger says:

I think it was Billy Connelly who did the extra elbow skin joke actually, and you should maybe go to hell for thinking it was Jasper Carrot.

  15. bill says:

IF you are really going to do it regularly then you should probably add a permanent link to the top of the site.

  16. Jamesworkshop says:

Didn’t Craig charles rape someone or somthing

    • Wowbagger says:

It’s probably important to ascertain if it was someone or something.

  17. simonster says:

    Good luck!

  18. Gap Gen says:

I only just listened to this but: Ken Burns effect is panning across images to make documentaries more interesting.

  19. Kaben says:

so the weekly podcast is taking another year of annual leave huh?
