Freeware Garden: POEng'n'Klik

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I clicked, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.

Sounding like something a Klingon would say is absolutely okay in my books when you are a point-and-click adventure from the Point And Click Jam. Doubly so when you have excellent four-colour CGA graphics and a weirdly-expressed affection for Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous poem, like POEng’n’Klik.

POEng’n’Klik is an inspired if quite loopy adaptation of Poe’s narrative poem The Raven. Yes, it’s definitely weird, more than capable of telling a good joke, looks absolutely retro (and lovely) and comes complete with a nine-verbs interface, which allows for varied puzzles and all sorts of tiny, lovely interactions.

The less you know about it before playing it though the better, so I’ll just warn you of the thing’s irritating interface problems (sometimes it seems to click itself) and advise you to try and ignore them. POEng’n’Klik is a short, lovely and unique adventure that’s absolutely worth your time.

Oh, and don’t fail to read The Raven once again. Read it out loud and enjoy its musicality.
