Have You Played… Deep Under The Sky?

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

Deep Under The Sky comes from the creators of Incredipede and Pineapple Smash Crew. In it you launch Venusian jellyfish eager to scatter and hatch their children all over the place. In some ways it feels like an RPS workplace simulator.

It’s a simple game – one button control system simple – you left click to launch, to boost, to explode your jellyfish reproductive intentions. What you’re hoping to do is explode your sexy essences so that they hit and hatch egg pods. As the game progresses the pathways you’ll need to take in order to hit all these egg pods get more difficult – for example, the level I’m looking at right now having booted up the game involves a lot of strategic bounce pad use.

“Hooray! Another level done!”

But then you’ll notice the collectible stars hidden around the beautiful world, the fact that the game tracks how many launch attempts and how much time you take to finish each level.

Your eyes narrow. You’re better at sexy jellyfish than this.

One. More. Try.

Deep Under The Sky is £6.99 on Steam, but the team are also offering a curious alternative payment model; Art To Play. You send them a piece of art based on the game and you can get a copy of the game free of charge. There are a few terms and conditions for that here.

Coincidentally I was sifting through games available in the Steam auction and I picked this one up for a very small amount of gems. If nothing else, pretty to look at, so it’ll be good for playing while leaning back and relaxing some cold night.
