Tom Clancy’s The Division Forming Up To Fall Out In March

Following recent word of a delay for Tom Clancy’s The Division [official site], Ubisoft used their E3 event to give it a new release date: March 8th, 2016.

Ubi also showed off a bit of the mostly-co-op shooter’s player vs. player action. It goes down in an area called the Dark Zone (imaginative), where you can find fancy loot if you venture in but run the risk of teamies betraying you, shooting your face off, and stealing your hard-stolen shinies. This one is going to ruin friendships, isn’t it?

Here’s a gameplay trailer which is clearly more scripted/practised action and dialogue from Ubisoft but does show sneaking and friend-murdering. Also fun, a bit of friend murder.

Or if you want a plain old E3 trailer, here’s this one of those general-purpose doodads:

Guess this is better than Marching out this Fall…

NExt. That was supposed to read NEXT Fall. Grr…oh well, I tried.

Why do you keep bolting on Tom Clancy’s name even after the man is dead. Are we seriously supposed to believe anyone is more liable to buy these games because of his name being on it? By this point, i am more likely to beleive the opposite.

Whats the song in the trailer?

That gameplay thingy looked quite boring.

Yeah, same here. The more I see of it the less I care. Just another third person gallery shooter filled with chest high walls… and co-op.

And level-based health bars with numbers popping out of people when they get shot. Eghad. These geniuses sure know how to pre-emptively kill immersion and the illusion of any kind of realism.

Why do developers think this mechanic adds anything to their games other than creating an insular community where it is impossible to just pick up and go with a group of strangers, have fun, and make new friends. So Don’t fly with anyone you don’t know personally.

Yeah, I couldn’t help but think of all these survival games I don’t play because everyone’s your enemy. Not for me. Maybe this dark zone won’t be mandatory.
