Arma 3 Expansion’s Tropical Islands Of Tanoa Revealed

A leak last week made pretty clear that a new tropical landscape was coming to Arma III [official site], and now it’s really, formally, officially happening.

The South Pacific archipelago of Tanoa (pronounce that last part like in ‘quinoa’ or everyone will think you’re a right mug) will arrive in Bohemia’s military sim with an expansion in the first half of 2016. I don’t believe they’ve named the expansion yet. Of course, given that this announcement already leaked, all we really have to show you that’s new is the trailer we couldn’t see before:

And here’s Bohemia telling you a little about what it’ll bring:

“The video offers a first glimpse of Tanoa – a South Pacific archipelago with a land mass of over 100 km2, and home to lush tropical vegetation, unique landmarks, a rich history, and imposing man-made feats of modern engineering. Besides the new Tanoa terrain, the Arma 3 expansion will include new vehicles, weapons, attachments and gear, characters, playable content, and more.”

Bohemia have released a fair bit of Arma III DLC before, but this will be the first full-on expansion. First half of 2016 it is.

Wow that looks nice, now if only this game would not run horribly … wtb full engine rebuild, so it, you know … actually uses my GPU

It’s really making me bonkers that the main *.exe is in 32 bits and that they don’t intend to switch it to 64.

I can only speculate that its deliberate, to give a hard line of separation between their military sim products and the consumer game products. After all the price tag is pretty hefty on those actual mil sims (VBS3).

Don’t need a new location. What we do NEED is to fix the crappy AI in single-player. When I tell the Medic to heal a soldier, then, DAMN IT, heal him.

  6. Hitchslapped says:

Arma is really known for it’s smooth performance. I fear this island might now be playable by quite alot of people

A monster size digger truck! If you can drive that, then I am so sold.

Too much vegetation for an Arma game. Unless of course they fixed the AI seeing and shooting though bushes and trees. But since they didn’t care about that since OFP, there is very little chance of it happening, ever.

Then play PVP and squat in the bush like Charlie til some nob walks into your ambush at 5 feet without seeing you.

Jungle is the ultimate PVP environment.
