Giveaway Co-Developed By Obsidian

Win One Of 750 Beta Keys For MMO Skyforge

Skyforge [official site] is an in-development free-to-play MMO, the core hook of which is the ability to change your class at any moment without having to re-level your skills from scratch. It’s being developed by (thems what made Allods Online) in partnership with Obsidian (thems what did Pillars of Eternity and lots of other games). If you’re interested in hopping into the game’s open beta early, step below for the chance.

While open beta for the game will launch on July 16th, these keys will get you into the game as soon as the 750 winners are drawn. Besides entry to the game the Early Access edition also includes 10,000 in-game credits, ‘premium’ membership for 7 days and more.

To enter, you need to do two things: enter your email address into the box below and give permission to the Sweepstakes app to see your public Facebook profile, email address, birthday and current city. This is only so that we can guarantee one entry per user, it doesn’t give the app permission to post to your Facebook wall, and you can deactivate it again afterwards by going to your Facebook app settings. Liking the Facebook page and following us on Twitter are optional.

Once that’s done, you’ll then be entered into the hopper (a giant rotating ball we keep in our basement) and drawn at random this Monday. Scroll down in the widget below for the entry field:

Update: All winners have now been contacted! Congrats to those who received a key.

    Why did it have to be Facebook ;___;

    • wu wei says:

The more RPS use this mechanism for their giveaways, the less I feel like I’m welcome here.

      • DeVadder says:

I agree with this. The assumption that everyone world-wide needs to have a Facebook account actually bothers me.

    • animal says:

I’m with you, they lost my interest at Facebook.

  2. LogicalDash says:

If you can change class at the drop of a hat, what exactly is the benefit of having classes, and not doing straight-up point buy for everything?

    • aliksy says:

I imagine it’s so you can do like
Class A has skills 1 and 2 but not 3
Class B has skills 2 and 3 but not 1

If you had 1 and 3 together, it would be too effective and screw things up.

  3. King in Winter says:

    Nice… but I don’t have a Facebook account.

    • orionite says:

Yup. Left facebook a year ago and have not missed it for a day. Will never go back.

  4. RaoulDuke says:

Someone appears to have been sick on this article, whats that all about?

  5. slerbal says:

The Facebook part isn’t optional like it says on the form, if you exit the facebook login nothing happens :(

But for moi, not an issue as I was only absently interested and I don’t use Facebook any more

  6. Myrdinn says:

No facebook, no go. A pity.

  9. Necrourgist says:

What i saw of the so far looks really promising. It seems to a mixture of Rift, ESO, TERA and Destiny. Or, screw that, it seems to be a mix of Destiny and Rift with the added bonus of switching class whenever you want. Also, direct/real time combat is a big positive. And, adjustable cleavage is always good, flat chests ftw!

  10. Xzi says:

Likely another samey grindfest, despite Obsidian’s name being on it. Still, I’m willing to throw my name in to that hat so I can hopefully be the judge of that firsthand.

    • Zallgrin says:

Whatever Obsidian contributed to Skyforge, it was certainly not the writing, trust me. It’s pretty enough game, though, but I personally don’t see much lasting appeal in it.

      • Xzi says:

Yeah, I knew better than to expect that. They’re probably just a publishing partner.

      • Lars Westergren says:

Mainly art and animation I think, and a little bit of help on quest design.

    Why is this yellow?

  12. malkav11 says:

If your hook is “you can switch classes on the fly”, you need a better hook.

  13. rexx.sabotage says:

    I <3 my fakebook account :]

the icing on the cake is people paying real money for my garbage, facetious information

  14. Nibblet says:

Since i have not tried it i am basing this on a vague description and some screenshots, but it sounds like yet another entry in the generic, doomed to failure “themepark” mmo lineup.
You would tink that after 10+ years of failed mmos the “its wow, but with (insert gimmic here)” model of mmo design would have died out by now.

  15. mxxcon says:

Guess who’s got 1 thumb, no fecesbook account and won’t be participating in this “giveaway”?

Haha no FB info isn’t quite -that- easily bought.

“give permission to the Sweepstakes app to see your public Facebook profile, email address, birthday and current city”
I can see the unique ID and eligibility rationales for the info, but holy balls nevertheless. Anyone know a better solution which doesn’t involve jerks being able to exploit RPS or the promotion?

Anyway, thanks very much for the openness there, RPS. I was only vaguely interested to start with, but I do appreciate being informed up-front about such things.

  18. JamesBond000 says:

  19. LINKSAINI says:

    is this nfake?

    • hunsnotdead says:

No they really gave away codes. Its a pity the game looks like a dime a dozen WoW killer.
