Doctor Who Comes To Fallout: New Vegas

Out from the expanding heap of creation birthed from the modding community comes one particularly impressive mod for Fallout: New Vegas [official site]. It’s Fallout Who Vegas, a project that combines two of Earth’s most beautiful and pure creations: the Fallout universe and Matt Smith’s lovely, big face. Yes, friends, it is a Doctor Who in Fallout mod.

Fallout Who Vegas has been in development for five years, an intensive hobby for its creators at The Foundry – a little modding community of developers, modellers and animators. An initial release happened a few years back and the team has been tweaking things and adding all things Whovian in the time since. Now, finally, the mod is out in its final release form. Video after the jump.

The mod adds a working Tardis to the New Vegas wasteland. And it’s quite an impressive thing too, not just a living space but capable of travelling through the desert and featuring its own defense mechanisms and internal systems. You get Dalek invasions, cybermen and weeping angels. The team promises randomly generated space and time anomalies and radioactive Skaro wastelands, set against the backdrop of a quest that thrusts you into the Courier’s near future. Ah, it’s just lovely.

Thanks to Nick for the heads up.

Worth it for that title alone.

  2. SaintAn says:

You can come across the Tardis teleporting away in Fallout 1 or 2 in a random event, so this mod isn’t as strange as it may seem to most.

I like to think that the fallout universe came to be because the Master messed up with the timelines and the appearances of the Tardis are due to the Doctor trying to find out exactly when the damage is.

Det. Bullock you’ve just blown my mind. That should be an actual game, playing a time traveler trying to fix the Fallout universe. The MacGuffin in the next Fallout game, in the style of 12 Monkeys / La Jetée. Makes so much sense its a wonder it hasn’t been done.

Been following this mod since before it’s “wave 1” release (as it was known back then). It’s great to see word getting out. Fantastic mod with a lot of love, time and effort put into it. A must-have for any Dr Who fan.

Well shit. I just deleted F:NV to make space for other games. Now I’ll have to redownload :(

I’m on my first playthrough of F:NV, with 1 DLC to go (Lonesome Road) and maybe just a 20% of the main game left. Next season of Doctor Who is also starting in a few weeks. This couldn’t have come out at a better time.

Saw the daleks n cybermen, but was there yetis n icemen?
    Overall though..top job! :)

  7. kalirion says:

IIRC Daleks are supposed to be virtually immune to 20th century weapons. Does that carry over?

I imagine you probably won’t be using guns, but I suppose it could be like that weird first person game from [a href=”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who:_Destiny_of_the_Doctors”]years ago[/a], where you run around using detuned radios and things.
