Plantarium: The Best RPS Author Plant Names

Arriving just a little too late for Alice’s Screen Saver Jam roundup was this gem from Daniel Linssen. It’s called Plantarium [Itch page] and it generates these organic-looking branches. I think I see them as more coral-like than plants but they’re really lovely.

I know that screen savers and generation tools tend not to have a win state but today I’m feeling belligerent so let’s try to find a way someone can win at Plantarium.

I’m going to type in the names of the full-time hive mind and we can vote on whose name seed leads to the best coral/plant/growth!

Philippa (VOTE FOR PIP)

Alice (do not vote for Alice)

Graham (do not vote for Graham)

Adam (do not vote for Adam)

John (do not vote for John)

Alec (do not vote for Alec)

Horace (do not vote for Horace)

Just leave a comment to vote for your favourite! (Philippa)

    Pip Pip Hurray!

Even if I–impossibly–don’t win, I’ll still win Best Shadow.

  4. NetharSpinos says:

The blueish purple of John speaks to me on a primordial level.

    (Sorry Alice)

I have a soft spot for Graham’s shriveled-heart looking plant.

Now if this was the Rorschach test, what would come in to your mind?

This article is horribly biased. I expected more from you, RPS!

I think I’ll go with Pip.

    Pip. Cyan beats everything.

  12. frodillo says:

Pip…I created an account just for this.

  13. HopperUK says:

Pip! Though John’s seems to be trying to grow horns.

  14. Zwebbie says:

I somehow had a hunch that Pip went by her full name because it produced a better plant than just ‘Pip’. A quick test confirms this. You’re cheating at what’s not even a game, Pip! RPS continues to break new grounds since 1873.

I like how these reflect each person. Phillipa’s plant is overflowing with enthusiasm. Alice’s plant is slightly twisted, and has blue hair. Graham’s plant is solid and compact. Adam’s plant is tightly wound, and purple (a hint of eldrich horror to it?). John’s plant is going in two directions at once. Alec’s plant is a bit of a jumble.

Horace is the tricky one. His plant does not appear to be endless, that I can see, but it does look cold and inhuman. Which may be appropriate.

Anyway, for some reason I feel compelled to vote for Phillipa’s plant. Not sure why.

Did have a chuckle at this (sorry Alec – guess you do tend to convey a good sense of everyday chaos to some of your more personal writing! <3 ).

Clearly Pip. Her’s is the fullest and will clearly bare the most fruit come the Festival of Titanium Plums.

John and Alec clearly copied each other’s work.

Adam looks like doggy doo-doo. I said it.

Alice and Horace for me. Must be a ‘name ending in -ce’ thing.

I also made one of my own but frankly it’s a bit of a mess.

    Alice plant for 2016!

Also I keep thinking of that old South Park episode where they go to the Planetarium.

It clearly goes to John for having most like magical creature horns. I couldn’t put yours on top of ANYTHING Pip!

  22. dysomniak says:

Alice is definitely the cool one.

  23. Raoul Duke says:

    I vote for Horace.

It’s a shame this has a white background, thus largely ruining it as a screensaver (and does anyone know how to run it as a screensaver anyway?).

Also, RPS, please for the love of the flying spaghetti monster fix your login system. I have to sign in again every single time I come here, regardless of how hard I click the “keep me logged in” button.
