Vroomshakalaka! Rocket League Hoops Mode Next Week

I believe I can drive. I believe I can touch the sky. I think about it every night and day, turboblast and fly away. So, y’know, I’m excited to hear that carball ’em up Rocket League [official site] is adding its promised basketball-y Hoops mode next Tuesday, April 26th. It’s coming in a free update. Here, watch this (parking) space jam:

The Hoops update will bring a special ballzone, named Dunk House. That’s a great name. Developers Psyonix say “the net itself can be used as a ramp for the ball, and Aerials and wall-play is the key to victory.”

Psyonix have also buddied up to the basketball big boys in the NBA. Every player will receive an NBA car flag accessory for free, while a paid DLC pack will give 30 NBA team flags for £1.59/$1.99.

Speaking of, Rocket League is also crossing over with Euro Truck Simulator 2 for some freebies. Truckers can get a Rocket League ball to hang from their window and a car to stick on their dashboard, while Rocket League is adding a ETS2 truck to its pool of antenna toppers. Everyone loves trucks and rocketcars, an-

I’m sorry, I must leave, I have just discovered that jet-powered trucks actually exist and now I must watch all of these videos, goodbye.

I am currently more excited for this than I am for Total Warhammer and Deus Ex. And I’m actually really excited for TW and DE!

I wouldn’t get that crazy. It’ll be kinda nifty but not THAT great. :)

I hope you dropped your keyboard and walked out after typing “Vroomshakalaka” for the title. Bravo.

Arrgh. New things to do in Rocket League are always welcome, but if there’s one thing I absolutely suck at in the game more than anything else (and honestly, I suck at all of it) it’s aerials.

That’s one of the reason’s I like Snow Day. It’s almost entirely a ground game. This also means that when you do go aerial you look that much more impressive.

      • CaptainDju says:

I am also quite bad at aerial play (I keep jumping either too soon or too early) so I wanted to try Snow Day but I can’t ever find a game :-(

Are you playing on the Euro servers? Between the two NA servers there is generally between 600-1000 players at any time.

    • theirongiant says:

The aerial training mode is actually pretty good for honing you’re aerial skills, also I find 1v1’s are generally the best place for sharpening up your technical skills in RL

Be nice to see them licence some actually football team stuff, also they need to make 11 v 11 rocket league a thing (with a suitably massive pitch)

    • Eery Petrol says:

Somehow that doesn’t seem appealing. With Rocket League’s high momentum playstyle, specialised position roles get substituded by position cycling. That just gets messier and messier as teams get larger, regardless of field size.

    frooom doooowwwnnntown!
