The Foxer

Have you ever had a dream, woken up, gone back to sleep, and then told a person in a second dream about the first dream? It happens to my Chief Foxer Setter regularly, but, until last night, Roman had never had a dream, woken up, gone back to sleep, told a person in a second dream about the first dream, woken up for a second time, dropped off again, and then told a person in a third dream about telling a person in the second dream about the first dream.

Medal bottom left is the French Dardanelles campaign medal (“Médaille commémorative des Dardanelles”) awarded for participation the in the Battle of the Dardanelles also known as Gallipoli

  3. Cooper says:

The left medal shows the helmeted woman that’s common to many French medals.
So, going by the coluors it’s possibly from the Dardanelles campaign:

Wondering if the wreck is that of a Curtiss C-46 Commando.

Head on, it looks like it might have the double-bubble fuselage, and the side windows under the main ones.

  5. mrpier says:

Missile looks like a MIM-14 Nike Hercules.

  6. AFKAMC says:

I’m guessing the cross in the red circle is not part of the medal ribbon?

In which case, maybe the tail of the Red Baron’s Fokker DR.1?

    • AFKAMC says:

…except some images I’m finding seem to suggest that Manfred von Richthofen flew one with a white tail. Maybe both at different times?

Is the red/black/blue thing maybe one of the New Zealand flags they voted on?

Don’t think that’s the official site, though. And the blue in the Foxer is lighter.

    • All is Well says:

I think it’s the flag of the Lord’s Resistance Army (the Ugandan (?) rebel group). Or, possibly, the flag of the Italian Republic of Pontecorvo, turned upside-down.

  8. Arglebarf says:

The silver pipe-looking googaw at the top is a boatswain’s whistle or pipe. Makes the irritating noise before announcements in navy movies.

    • mrpier says:

      Beaten by seconds. :)

Made or designed by ACME whistles in case that’s relevant.

  9. AFKAMC says:

    Lord Byron?

    Poem: “The Corsair”
Byron chartered the brig “Hercules” to take him to Greece.
John William Polidori wrote “The Vampyre” – erroneously accredited to Lord Byron.

  10. foop says:

The coin is a penny of Harold II – which ties in with the Byron theme as he wrote the poem “Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage”.

The airplane tail on the bottom is from a BAe Jetstream, flying for Aerolínea de Antioquia, aka as ADA, in Colombia. A link to Ada Lovelace, Byron’s daughter.
