Giveaway: 100k Free Steam Keys For Megabyte Punch

Megabyte Punch is an action platformer that smooshes together Smash Bros.-style action with Rogue Legacy-style character customisation and exploration. We’re giving away 100,000 Steam keys for the game in partnership with Bundle Stars.

Megabyte Punch was the previous game made by the developers of Lethal League, which features in the Indie Legends 4 Bundle alongside Doorkickers, Skullgirls, Viscera Cleanup Detail and more for £3.50. Here’s what old Ben said about the game when he wrote up some impressions back in 2013:

It’s the ultimate in removing hand-holding to force adaption. What’s simple in other action brawlers is difficult here, making the payoff all the sweeter. I reacted vocally the first time I combo’d one of the game’s many weaker enemies to death without dropping a hit, bouncing him through the air with a series of well timed attacks before the final smash. Those fine humans over at Reptile know how to emphasise too, the death blow rocketing my poor opponent into scenery at a gorgeous speed akin to explosive decompression. Upon impact he tore through weaker blocks of terrain with a metallic grinding before the final gratifying pop spread bits (currency) over the floor. Then things got really clever.

Which sounds jolly, but here’s a trailer if you want to see it in action:

That widget below will dispense your key in exchange for three actions: joining the BundleStars Steam group; entering your name and email address, though it is not necessary, as it appears below, to therefore signup to the BundleStars newsletter; and to either watch or quickly skip to the end of a YouTube video. Once you’ve done those three, the widget should dispense your key on screen and via an email. You will receive a second email inviting you to join the BundleStars newsletter but you don’t have to.

Megabyte Punch Giveaway

The keys are limited to one per user and the widget above will close automatically when all the codes are gone.

How to redeem your code

1. You’ll need a free Steam account, if you don’t have one already. Signup and download the client at steampowered.com.
2. Within the client, click ‘Games’ at the top and then ‘Activate a Product on Steam…’.
3. Enter your Steam key when prompted. It will then be added to your account and you can decide to install it immediately by choosing a location. Enjoy!

Thanks for the giveaway. Took me a minute to realize I had to set my Steam account to public – forgot I set it to Friends Only.

  2. minijedimaster says:

    Price is still too high.

  3. Zankman says:

Been eyeing this game since it released and *almost* bought it for 1.5$ at the very last minutes of the Steam Summer Sale.

Guess this saved me that 1.5$, which in my case actually matters a lot.

    Great stuff!

  4. Master of nothing says:

Shameless self promotion, but I also have a giveaway to share!

  5. vanhisa says:

Well, been eyeing this game for two years. Smash with Megaman is enough to get me interested. Now I could see how is it fare

  6. Syrion says:

I was also just about to buy this in the last sales, but nowadays I want to restrict game purchases to games I really want to and can play now or in the near future, which I wouldn’t have in this case. Surely, I can’t pass this up now, and I’m looking forward to playing it once I’ve set aside the time! Thanks a lot!

  7. ScubaMonster says:

Too much BS hoops to jump through for me to care about a key for this game.

  8. gsilver says:

The number of hoops look kind of ridiculous (EIGHT steps, and they won’t even tell you what five of them are off the bat?), and certainly more work than just paying the $2 that the game is worth (judging by its common “sale” price)
…But I do quite like Megabyte Punch. I’d say it’s worth picking up when it goes on sale again.

    • Suits says:

you only need the three, one of which is “joining” something

    • April March says:

Could you share where is the place that pays $2 for that amount of work? (Though I suppose such a place exists, and it’s where spambots come from. Joke’s on me, I guess.)

  9. Syrion says:

You only need to complete the first 3 actions:
    1. Watching the video
    2. Signing up to the newsletter (which needs to be confirmed in the first mail, which isn’t necessary)
    3. Joining the Steam group (which you can leave directly afterwards)

I really don’t like these kind of actions in general, but in this case they are pretty unintrusive.

    • April March says:

I am happy and surprised that a lot of people complaining about Facebook actually accomplished something. Kudos to RPS.

  10. Suits says:

    Appreciated RPS and BundleStars!

  11. April March says:

Ha! I was already going to buy that bundle, am already part of that group and already receive that newsletter! YOU JUST GAVE ME A FREE GAME FOR NOTHIIIING *does a wild dance*

  12. Medasian says:

I joined the group, but it isn’t recognizing I did. Am I doing something wrong? lol

    • bundlestars-grant says:

Hi Medasian, your Steam profile has to be set to public when you complete the giveaway, otherwise the API can’t detect whether you have an account or not.

  13. bongi347 says:

How does the widget recognize that you’ve joined their steam group? Because however they do it, it’s not working for me.

  14. TheSplund says:

WTF – Steam account is public (all elemenst) – joined and left the group 6+ times adn it still refuses to acknowledge my joining – I’m effing pee’d right off now

    • TheSplund says:

7+ times now (left group/rejoined/refreshed page – no luck). I do hope that someone hasn’t assumed that people use the same id and/or e-mail in a forum and their Steam account…

      • bongi347 says:

My profile is all public, my email is the same as it is on RPS, and it’s still not registering the I joined the group. Something’s funky here.

  15. Asami says:

Yeah I’m not signing up for spam email for a game key. What a joke.

  16. Chaotec Gaming says:

    My first shameless self promotion.
    I have a giveaway here.

  17. Rex0 says:

I have a limited Steam account so even though I have joined Bundle Stars group, Gleam is not letting me pass.

    Help!
