Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.
No, Richard & Alice [official site] is not some fan fiction about the time Richard Cobbett and Alice O’Connor fought spacecrime together, although now damn I wish it were. It is in fact a small, very lovely, very sad little adventure game.
With very obvious leads taken from McCarthy’s The Road, Richard & Alice is a beautiful, miserable story told superbly. And to add any more is to take away. It’s less than a fiver on Steam. Trust me.

Yeah, I played it. Don’t remember it all, but it was gloomy.

“Trust me.”
I did, and bought that terrible, terrible thing – and what is worse, I played it. Sentimental, infantile rubbish with horrible dialogues.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt this way. I didn’t find it bleak at all, I found it insipid and schmaltzy.

I played it! It wasn’t very good. Came out roughly the same time as To The Moon and managed to be even more twee and twice as tedious to actually play.
