Have You Played… Cross Stitch Caper?

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.

Cross Stich Caper [official site] makes a surprising use of the homespun home-spun art style – it’s not what you’d think.

The traditionally homely style of cross stitch is given an ironic twist in this odd little freebie adventure, telling the story of a boy called Caspar growing up in a cruel and abusive home. It’s not a weighty subject the game ends up handling all that well, but then at the same time, this isn’t a therapeutic tool, but rather a half hour glimpse at portraying a hammy tragedy. It’s about being horrid. And that’s interesting in and of itself.

Why did you even bother posting half a paragraph about this? I’ve never heard of the game, and I’m intrigued… Guess I’ll have to do my own research then.

Kind of defeats the point of a ‘gaming blog’ though.

    Casper, tho, innit

    No “Caper.”

    No “Caspar.”

    Casper.
