It's Spring Again devs launch One Eyed Kutkh free

After unraveling the mysteries of Earth’s seasons in It’s Spring Again, Russian team Baba Yaga Games are adventuring into the stars to explore tales and mythology from Russia’s Far North. Today they released One Eyed Kutkh [official site] for free. It’s a simple and pleasant adventure game about a one-eyed creature who crashes his spaceship on a strange planet and, I’m told, will “have to get to the ninth heaven, deceive the Sun and the Moon and steal their space-boats.” So far, er, my Kutkh has only broken another space-boat he found. Whoops. Have a peek in this trailer:

As you can see, One Eyed Kutkh is a simple adventure game where dialogue, thoughts, and directions come as little animations in thought bubbles. It’s not complicated, it’s not a head-scratcher, but it is pleasant to be in. Baba Yaga Games say:

“One Eye Kutkh is an experimental project, something in between video game, theatrical performance and an animated film. But most importantly, One-Eye Kutkh is a unique world filled with the atmosphere of the Northern myths. The challenge of the game lies not within obstacles that prevent the player from moving forward, but within the possibility to see the world through the eyes of his heroes.”

Part of me still wishes they’d gone ahead with their plan to make this as a puppet show. I do like the puppet show It’s Spring Again is based on.

One Eyed Kutkh is free on Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you dig it, hey, you can pick up the soundtrack and artbook for £1.99/2,99€/$2.99.
