Housemarque's Nex Machina explodes onto PC

Housemarque, the makers of Super Stardust and Dead Nation, have released their latest shoot ’em up. Nex Machina [official site] is a twin-stick shooter made in collaboration with the co-creator of Robotron and Smash TV, Eugene Jarvis, and heavily inspired by that sort of game. It is the future and there are too many robots so you shoot them and they explode. Bang! The explosions make lots of particles. Zwew! You score points too. Ping! And you can play cooperatively with a friend. Hi! Here, look at these explosions:

Those are colourful explosions.

Shoot things! Score points! Climb leaderboards! Find secret levels! Unlock things! Look at explosions! Explosions! Explosions!

For snobs and self-declared ‘crickets’, uh, yes, absolutely it has one of those ‘storeys’ you’re always on about:

“In the world of Nex Machina, humans have become so dependent on technology that they cannot avert their eyes from portable devices anymore. Around them, machines have reached consciusness and surpassed human intelligence tenfold. No reasons to be servants now – robots are clearly the superior lifeform. And to make their point, they start eradicating all human life…”

And so, EXPLOSIONS!

Nex Machina is £11.99/15,99€/$15.99 on Steam, which includes the 20% launch discount available until July 5th. Folks who own Housemarque’s 2011 platformer Outland on Steam get an extra 10% off. It’s on GOG and the Humble Store too.
