Rainbow Six Siege Buck: what he can do and how to use him

Packin' heat

Featured post Buck

As one of the first DLC operatives for the attackers in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Buck changes the game in some rather significant ways, being able to deal with both long and close range threats with a press of a button. He may not have the fanciest skill out there, but our guide features some important information about how to use him and what other gadgets he has to support the team.

Buck operator guide

Buck is unique in the fact that his guns are modular. They can take out a wide variety of ranged opponents, thanks to having a shotgun attached to the bottom of them. It’s a simple concept, making him a relatively simple operator for newer players, so for those interested in more tips and tricks, go have a look at our Rainbow Six Siege guide hub.

Buck’s Stats

Armour: 2
Speed: 2

Buck’s Weapon Loadouts

Buck’s got a unique set of guns as his primary weapons. The C8-SFW assault rifle allows for decent damage with a good fire rate, while the CAMRS marksman rifle is a single shot semi-automatic weapon that deals a good chunk of health more damage than the assault rifle. He also has the MK1 9mm as his sole handgun, which is good in a pinch.

Buck’s Gadgets

His gadgets include the flash grenade and the frag grenade. Certain situations call for different types of grenade, so really this choice is down to your own play style as they both complement Buck’s weapons and skill nicely.

Buck’s Skill

Those wondering if Buck can deal with close range threats need only look to his skill – the SK 4-12. This is an under-barrel shotgun that is attached to the main weapon and can be switched with a press of the skill button. It has a decent amount of environmental destruction and is good in a pinch.

Should I pick Buck?

Buck players have a lot of decent guns to choose from, making them highly viable as a worthy member of any attacking team. Their no thrills skill is refreshingly simple to use and doesn’t necessarily require coordination to use effectively. His only downside is a lack of decent pistol choices, but when you’re packed to the brim with other better guns, this is a bit of a non-issue.

Perhaps Buck’s more direct approach isn’t for you? Check out our main Rainbow Six: Siege operators guide which has links to each individual operator, as well as an overview on the more universally useful ones and which ones beginners should consider learning.
