Perhaps the most famous Athenian in the entire game is the father of philosophy: Sokrates. In the game though, he turns out to be an absolute pain to talk to, since he always answers each question with another question. This guide will go through the steps and philosophical hurdles you need to overcome in order to complete his side quests.

On a High Horse
You’ll find this after completing the side quest for Alkibiades to get someone citizenship into Athens. Sokrates would like for you to talk to a thief about a stolen horse. He’ll be in a guarded location nearby and you’ll definitely know when you get near him as he’ll bolt away from you. Catch the thief and talk to him, then return to Sokrates to let him know of your decision.
A Life’s Worth
Unlocked after solving the previous quest, you’ll accept this quest near the silver mines. A slave will ask for you to talk to his master for him as he’s gone back on a promise to free him if he hands over some money. Rather predictably, his master is a cultist, so is obviously a nasty piece of work, but he wants you to go kill a woman. Sokrates will then arrive to give you another philosophy lesson (this is why no one likes moral philosophy professors) before you return to the slave master to let him know of your decision. You can of course choose this moment to kill him and get a cultist out of the way.
The Sokratic Method
You’ll next bump into Sokrates after the Silver Islands rebellion quests are done in the island of Delos. Sokrates tells you about a rebel who apparently killed someone on the island of Delos. He tasks you with freeing the rebel that is being held captive in the Hestiatorion. It turns out he’s a bit of a zealot, so head back to Sokrates to have yet another philosophy lesson.
That’s all the side quests for this questline. Head on back to our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey side quests guide for more information about another quest-line or another region’s set of side quests.
