Mute is perhaps one of the more annoying operators to deal with in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. His jammers can render drones useless if they get too close, as well as jam the signal to other devices, which now include the likes of Dokkaebi’s pesky phone calls. This guide will take you through exactly what his skill can tamper with, as well as the weapons and gadgets he has on his person.

Mute’s Weapon Loadouts

With more recent updates, Mute’s loadout recommendations have seen a dramatic shift. While Mute’s MP5K submachine gun is flexible, the combination of using the M590A1 pump-action shotgun to blow up walls and the SMG-11 to shoot enemies down is just too good to pass up. He also has two secondary weapons. The P226 MK 25 isn’t a particularly bad gun to be lumped with, but the SMG-11 is the much better pick for the aforementioned combo.

Mute’s Gadgets

Gadgets for Mute include the Nitro Cell and the bulletproof camera. While the bulletproof camera is pretty solid a choice, nothing beats a pack of C4 for those moments when you need to just blow a hole in a wall.

Mute’s Skill

Mute’s special gadget is the GC90 “Moni” Signal Disruptor and he has four of them. This is used to jam any weapons that rely on an electrical signal to activate or detonate. It can also disrupt drones that pass through its area of effect. The best place to put these devices is somewhere not too far away from the objective to catch enemy gadgets, while not close enough to give away the position of an undetected objective.

Should I pick Mute?

He is somewhat outclassed by Bandit as a disrupter of technology, but being able to disrupt any potential technological threat is handy in certain situations. His C4 capability is a nice option to have, but again Bandit also has access to this. That said, he takes a lot less setup time, has a great potential weapon combination with the shotgun/SMG loadout picks, and isn’t as reliant on metallic surfaces to get his disruption to work. He’s also a fantastic counter to Lion’s aerial drone detection unit when it’s activated.

With the recent update in Year 4 Season 1, Mute has suddenly become a great counter to the newly downgraded Dokkaebi. Not only do his jammers prevent her phone call in the process, but they also hang up a call in progress, giving the defending team a bit more of a chance against her.
