Don't Starve: Hamlet squeals out of early access

After years of surviving in the wilds and on islands, Don’t Starve has returned to civilisation and… oh god, no one told me living in a city would be a struggle too. Klei Entertainment last night launched Hamlet, the third expansion for their survive ’em up, after six months in early access. It sees our motley crüe of survivors stumbling into a city of posh pigpeople in the heart of a tropical jungle, who live in actual proper houses and get their food from actual shops with actual fridges. Civilisation! Why is it, then, that we’re drawn to explore and plunder the ancient ruins beyond the metrotterlis?

Treasure, obvs. Past the jungle beasties, beyond the traps, we may find treasure, new doodads to craft, and the sheer thrill of fighting mechs and jungle wurms and swarms of insects and giant vultures just to know WE ARE ALIVE. And maybe learn something about this supposed impending ‘Aporkalypse.’

Don’t Starve: Hamlet is out now on Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It costs £5.19/€5.69/$6.99 and requires the base game too. Presumably Hamlet will soon follow the other expansions and launch on GOG too?

Also out now for all Don’t Starve players, whether they have Hamlet or not, is a new playable character. You can meet the begoggled inventor Wagstaff in Hamlet’s launch trailer below.

Klei are also still working on the multiplayer spin-off Don’t Starve Together, planning updates and additions across 2019.
