As ever, some big names like Marvel and Mafia are on the list, and so are some long-awaited favorites like Spelunky 2 and Serious Sam 4. More interesting though are the weird indie breakout games. Yup, Phasmophobia's on there and you can't stop me from talking about it.

Extreme Meatpunks Forever is "a serial visual novel/mech brawler about gay disasters beating up neonazis in giant robots made of meat," a description which certainly tracks with the claim that it does punk better than any other recent game. The second season, Bound By Ash, has just released its first two episodes, which kick off the Meatpunks' quest to steal the sun. The remainder of the…

Devilish dating sim Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is out now

Ah yes, one of the many valid spinoff arcs for animated stories: the one where the gang goes to camp. Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is the new sequel to teenage monster dating sim Mosnter Prom. This time the gaggle of monster teens is headed on a camping trip to the woods where—wait no I don't think anybody dies. Not anyone that isn't already undead,…

The Humble store is having a Halloween sale too

What's a holiday if it doesn't come with a sale on games loosely related to its theme? A terrible trick, which is part of what makes Halloween a real treat—discounts on horror games galore. The Humble Bundle are joining in on spooky sales with their own Halloween offers. Some are, appropriately, horror games. Some others are just vaguely grim, I guess. But hey, they're all…

The Brotherhood Of Steel are stomping into Fallout 76 in December

After that big Wastelanders update that added human NPCs and a legit storyline to Fallout 76 earlier this year, the story quests are rolling right along with the upcoming Steel Dawn update. Militant tech fanatics Brotherhood Of Steel are entering Appalachia while apparently doing what they do best: stomping around in power armor and scowling. A new teaser trailer lets on just a little bit…

The Long Dark is becoming an actual survival horror game for Halloween

The Long Dark has been plenty scary for years, in my opinion, but this year Hinterland Studio are upping the horror vibes for spooky season. Escape The Darkwalker is a new in-game event that will force you to stay on the run ahead of an invisible, evil entity. Because being stalked by wolves and weather sure wasn't enough. Escape The Darkwalker will run from October…

The new Outlaw Pass has 20 ranks to climb with unlockable rewards and will run through November 16th. A new zombie game mode has been added as well and—wait, hold on. No, it isn't a follow up to Undead Nightmare, the well-liked zombie expansion for…

Ubisoft's PC game launcher Uplay is getting a makeover and a name change to extremely straightforward Ubisoft Connect for PC. It may not have a terribly cute nickname, but Ubisoft Connect is bringing cross-progression between PC and consoles, meaning your game's save data, for new Ubisoft games when it launches on October 29th.

Devolver Digital have acquired Serious Sam developers Croteam

Not-so-serious publishers Devolver Digital have announced today in a not-so-serious post that they've acquired Serious Sam developers Croteam. Seriously. Well, the tone of the announcement isn't serious but it has seriously happened. It's a business love story for the books.

The Blaseball team are bringing their puzzle game to PC next year

The Game Band are presently known as the orchestrators of Blaseball, an odd democratic simulation of a baseball league that I gather folks are quite fond of. For a slice of something quite different, the studio is releasing Where Cards Fall, a puzzle game originally prototyped a decade ago. It's already out on Apple Arcade and is coming to PC and the Nintendo Switch early next…

Call Of Duty: Warzone is celebrating spook season with zombie royale and other new modes

Well well, Call Of Duty: Warzone is jumping in on spooky time with its very own horror-themed update. The Hunting Of Verdansk is a biggo event beginning tomorrow, October 20th. It'll bring new limited-time game modes, treats to hunt down, and apparently cosmetic skins from Saw and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Well I won't accuse them of doing anything in half measure.

Phasmophobia’s ghosts may begin refusing to answer if you don’t ask proper questions

Co-op ghost hunting game Phasmophobia has enthralled a lot of players and I am one of them. It's a total riot to play with pals—which I've done almost every single night for a week and a half. In that time, I've already progressed from tiptoeing meekly through haunted houses to boldly taunting ghosts by name as soon as I cross the threshold. For those like…

You can play private matches in Crucible until it’s gone for good on November 9th

Amazon's bang bang 'em up FPS Crucible has certainly been through—well a crucible, I suppose, though it hasn't emerged stronger and reformed. After a messy launch and retreating back to closed beta, Amazon Game Studios announced that the game wouldn't be making a return. As a last hurrah, Crucible has given players the ability to host private matches now that the matchmaking queue is shut…
