Stardew Valley has yet another free update in the works

Stardew Valley turns 4 years old today. It's been sixteen seasons since it arrived on PC, kicking off a wave of similar casual farming games on PC. Developer ConcernedApe is celebrating the anniversary with a casual announcement that the sun is not setting on his continued work planting Stardew's future. He says that with Stardew Valley's extremely large 1.4 update now available on all platforms,…

Diablo 4 previews its frantic family of cannibal monsters

We've not heard a heck of a lot about Diablo 4 since it was officially announced at BlizzCon last year. Blizzard have now published a development update—which they're hoping to do quarterly going forward—responding to feedback from the BlizzCon demo and introducing a nasty family of melee monsters. The update also gives a pretty in-depth look at a few pieces of Diablo 4's interface.

Classic apocalypse RPG Wasteland Remastered is out now

The original Wasteland hails from the 80s—those rose-colored years before RPGs set in the nuclear apocalypse were an entire genre of their own. Wasteland Remastered is almost (almost) an entire do-over with dramatically updated graphics and some ancient bug fixes. InXile proclaim that Wasteland and the remaster are "punishing" as old RPGs are wont to be. The remaster is out as of yesterday, so you…

Platinum Games announce big fighting kaiju game: Project G.G.

Platinum Games have announced a new big monster game in the works led by Hideki Kamiya of Viewtiful Joe and Bayonetta fame. Kamiya has a long history of action games, and this new one looks to have plenty more where that came from—big monsters clashing with giant heroes and all. This next action 'em up is provisionally titled Project G.G.

This pacifist mod lets you hug all of Stardew Valley’s monsters

Alright folks, Stardew Valley just wasn't pleasant enough. The animals are cute, the spouses are cute, and even the monsters are cute. But you do have to kill the monsters and that is decidedly not cute. You've got to whack them with increasingly edgy swords as you dive deeper into the mines beneath the mountain. Who are you to come into the monsters' territory and smack…

Spiritfarer shows off crafting and gathering in a new trailer

I've been quite jazzed about Spiritfarer since it was first announced last year. The cozy crafting and management game has a much different vibe from the last Thunder Lotus game I played. Jotun kicked my rear right through the final moments so I'll be glad to have a different relationship with this next one. There's a new trailer out today showing off some of the…

CD Projekt are now valued as the second largest game company in Europe

That scrappy Polish studio that developed a computer RPG based on the monster hunting novels by Andrzej Sapkowski is all grown up. CD Projekt, parent company of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 developers, are now valued as the second largest gaming company in Europe, beat only by Ubisoft.

Red Dead Redemption 2 players are puke rappelling off mountains

The wild west is a dangerous place. You'd think it's because of the cougars and grizzly bears and alligators but no, my real nemesis in Red Dead Redemption 2 is riding or running straight off a cliff I wasn't playing attention to. Inevitably that ends up with me dead at the bottom of a ravine, preserved in a loading screen as death by falling, though…

Devolver Digital announce a buzz saw bullet hell called Disc Room

Has science gone too far? If there's just a bunch of buzz saws flying around a room that you for some reason willingly walked into, I'll argue yes. Devolver Digital announced Disc Room today, a gore-y new game where you're a scientist who's had the rat in a maze paradigm flipped on them. Now you get to find your way through a maze of rooms…

Asobo Studio manually edited 37,000 airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator already looks wildly ambitious. Asobo Studio previously explained that you can fly anywhere in the world in their flight simulation. Anywhere? Anywhere. Naturally then they need to have airports everywhere. All the airports, even. So Microsoft Flight Simulator apparently features every airport in the world. A modest 37,000 of those have been manually edited by Asobo, they say in a new developer video.

This survival MMO will apparently reset every seven days

When I see a game that seems to be chasing the coattails of another, it's hit or miss whether I'll be put off or captaining the ship. Here we have Population Zero that, when you watch the trailer down below, you'll immediately get the No Man's Sky environment design vibes mixed with the base-building and wildcard PvP of ARK. Seemed like a heavy miss for…

Sony and Facebook cancel GDC appearances due to coronavirus

Sony and Facebook have cancelled their appearances at the Game Developers Conference this year, both citing concerns about the new coronavirus. The yearly conference for game industry workers is typically a source of new information each year, with presentations about the development of influential games and interviews with studio members. Both Sony and Facebook are stepping back this year based on concerns for the health…

Horror tactical RPG Othercide is coming this summer

First announced back in 2018, Othercide is back with a new trailer today. The mostly grey tactical RPG is full of horrific creatures with plague masks and spindly limbs mixed with splashes of red. Gives me somewhat Bloodborne vibes  seeing those long hunter cloaks and broads fighting monsters in red pumps and scarves. Or maybe it was the organ playing in the trailer wot did…

Valve say coronavirus impacting production of Index VR sets

Earlier this week, Valve's Index VR set was still sold out almost entirely around the globe just a month away from their own upcoming VR-only Half-Life: Alyx. No official word had come from Valve on the cause for the short stock or any estimate on when more units would be available. Previously we were only able to speculate on the cause for the hangup. Valve…

Biomutant is still in the works, its developers confirm

Kung-fu animal action RPG Biomutant has been in the works for quite a while. Biomutant was announced back in 2017 and was then planning for a release the following year in 2018. Both of those years have come and gone and mum's been the word but Experiment 101 spoke up today to assure folks that the pretty apocalypse is still coming. "We've never been working…

Desperados 3 gets a new trailer and is coming this summer

Things have been quiet out of the Desperados 3 corner for several months, ever since the closed beta in 2019. Sometimes a cowboy's got a feeling though and I had a good feeling we'd see Mimimi Productions' next tactical game in 2020. Looks like it's time to put another news in the chamber and cock it because Desperados 3 has a new trailer today and…

Sea Of Thieves' monthly content update has dropped anchor and it's a hot one. We already got a look at some of the changes from Rare's Crews Of Rage preview and now it's all officially live. There are hot potato chests that explode, sizzling skeletons, and a lot of other stuff that's too hot to handle.

No Man’s Sky now has living ships with creepy, veiny cockpits

No Man's Sky continues to grow and now it's grown something properly alive. It's an egg that hatches into a sentient ship. Sorry, am I reading that right? Yup, the spacefaring crafting simulation game now has ships that are alive and you pilot them from inside their apparently spacious cockpit heads. Where's the brain at, though? The Living Ship update is adding some other organic…

Yakuza 0, Two Point Hospital, and more next up on Xbox Game Pass for PC

Microsoft's subscription-based stable of games just keeps growing like some cursed alien creature in a sci-fi show. It won't stop till its giant, gelatinous self fills every corner of the ship, captain! Microsoft are adding five more games to the Xbox Game Pass on PC in the near future. Yakuza 0 and Two Point Hospital are on deck along with Wasteland Remastered, Reigns: Game Of…
