Revenants (Whoa-oh!): BrainBread 2 Out Free For Source

If you've been slaying zombies for a few years, you may well have come across the Half-Life mod BrainBread, an FPS splashing in a touch of action-RPG as you and your pals cut down zombie hordes. I think I remember it as being fun for a bit? Hazy mod memories. Point is: now BrainBread 2 [official site] is out for free. The sequel shambles in the Source engine, naturally, and brings several co-op and competitive modes.

Here's how it goes: civilization as we know it is over because zombies.

BrainBread 2 packs a co-op wave survival, humans vs. zombies team deathmatch, human deathmatch, a Story mode with missions to complete, and an objective mode based on the original BrainBread. That gives the humans goals to complete as they try to survive the hordes, though if players get infected they go zombo until they kill enough humans or die enough.

All of this is with loads of weapons and a bit of skill progression through earning XP to unlock perks.

BrainBread 2 is free to download through Steam as a standalone game for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It's listed as being in Early Access but is a multiplayer mod ever truly 'finished'? I always think of them as being in development indefinitely, updated until they no longer are. Here's how BrainBread 2 looks now, anyway:
