Soldat dev's Butcher adds easy mode, only if you want
Optional easiness
Soldat studio Transhuman Design advertised their new run 'n' gun platformer Butcher [official site] with the tagline "The easiest mode is 'HARD'!" It's pretty hard, y'see. But if you fancy shotguns and saw traps and squishing machines and helicopters and hordes of enemies without bashing your face into a difficulty wall, you can now download a free DLC pack which adds a 'Casual' mode. Well it'd be false advertising if they added it to the base game, wouldn't it?
The 'W.I.M.P.' adds a new difficulty level where players have more health, receive more pick-ups, and so on. It's easier, right?
The DLC is now live on Steam. I assume it's headed to the GOG release too, though GOG can be tardier.
I do sort of like this being added in free DLC. It's more trouble for those who want easier pixelsplatter, sure, but at least the easily-offended never need even see the easy mode listed in their game and won't end up dribbling on about gitting gud.
If you've not played Butcher at all, you can still play the free 2015 prototype in your browser. Having visited that link to check it's still up, I've found myself playing again and oh gosh I'd forgotten even birds are horrible bastards in it.
