Codies Bringing F1 To The Browser

Combining the internet with driving can often result in crashing into lampposts or squishing humans. But combining driving with the internet seems to prove significantly less dangerous. Thankfully Codemasters intend to pursue the latter, with a new browser-based F1 project. They're recruiting a team for it now, intending to take the obviously popular license in the oh-so modern direction of playing inside an internet window thingie. Or as Codies even less clearly put it, "an original FORMULA ONE service-based online game."

The game (that currently has no name) will, they say, be "highly accessible". Which is "thanks to an innovative design approach to car control, while offering persistence and depth of gameplay for a mainstream online gaming audience."

Which is intriguing. An innovation beyond steering with the cursor keys? Maybe it'll be QTEs. "PRESS UP, UP, DOWN, UP, RIGHT TO TURN LEFT!" Although possibly not.

Would you like to work on it? Codies' jobs board is currently pulling together a crack team for the task.

Meanwhile, my project - where you hook your car's controls up to a GPS-style screen that displays an F1 race and then use real-world controls to play - is failing to get off the ground. Blah blah, human tragedy, blah blah, school playground. Bloody health and safety.
