Crusader Kings II Is Getting A Poxy, Plaguey Expansion

I think I'm coming down with something

We all get sick every once in a while. When certain unnameable stars are ascendant and the pollen count is high, the writers of RPS are stricken with a variety of ailments ranging from the mildly irritating Wheezing Calamities to the truly dreadful Kneecaps-A-Shudder that causes the sound of grinding bones to echo around our word-cubicles, day and night. We have a proud record of 'zero plagues' in 2016 though and that's something to celebrate.

Crusader Kings II [official site] is set in more sickly times though and the next expansion to the bestest of all historical strategy games will explore illness, death and all that other good stuff.

I feel a little bit ill just having listened to that.

Here's what to expect from The Reaper's Due:

Epidemics: Diseases may spread from province to province along trade and sea lanes, lowering your income and available soldiers

Prosperity and Royal Focus: Well managed provinces in peaceful kingdoms will pay huge dividends in gold and manpower

Hospitals and Royal Physicians: Prevent the outbreak of disease in your kingdom, and make sure your courtiers have access to the latest in Dark Ages Medical Science

Royal Seclusion: Shield yourself from the diseases tearing your kingdom apart, even if it means ignoring the plight of your people

New Event Chains: Is the new epidemic the End of Days? Is there someone else to blame for these horrors? Are there supernatural origins or solutions to the world’s problems?

I may be wrong but it sounds like I might be able to recreate the Masque of the Red Death by locking my family away inside a safe place and then discovering that some supernatural agency is going to drag my soul out of the lesions on my royal sceptre anyhow. Jolly good.
