Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's Criminal Past story DLC announced

The gig house

Adam Jensen is off to the cyberslammer next month in the second story DLC for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided [official site]. Square Enix yesterday announced the 'Criminal Past' DLC, a prequel mission which will send Adman undercover into a prison for robomen. That's why they call it Criminal Past, see: it's set in the past (of the future), and there are criminals. The marketing droids must feel chuffed with that wordplay but tch, they missed such great names as The Gig House, Rigbrig, Spring Spring, and The Clank.

Criminal Past recreates one of Adam's first missions for Task Force 29, before all that Mankind Divided stuff kicked off. Squeenix explain:

"In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – A Criminal Past, Jensen is transferred deep into a hostile, high-security prison for augmented felons. His mission: track down and retrieve sensitive information from a fellow undercover agent who has gone dark. Success will help the fight against terror around the world, but Jensen will need to confront a darker side to his role before the day is done."

Is the darker side that he's central to a political allegory the game is too clumsy to pull off?

A Criminal Past is coming on February 23rd. If you fancy more sneaky shoot-o-chats before then, hey, Squeenix recently released Mankind Divided's pre-order bonus mission for everyone.
