Everything has the best animated animals anywhere

Spore, Noby Noby Boy and Sim Life walk out of a bar

Everything [official site] is the new game from David OReilly, artist, director and creator of RPS's favourite Mountain. We've already heard whispers about Everything, notably that it is coming to PS4 before Windows and Mac. Now, along with a lengthy new trailer, the release date has been announced. It'll be coming to PS4 on March 21st and to Steam on April 21st.

But what is Everything? I'm not entirely sure, but I am in love with every single one of these animals and their outrageous methods of locomotion.

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but Spore, Noby Noby Boy and Sim Life walk out of a bar...

That's my take. Here's the official word:

"Everything is an interactive experience where everything you see is a thing you can be, from animals to planets to galaxies and beyond. Travel between outer and inner space, and explore a vast, interconnected universe of things without enforced goals, scores, or tasks to complete. Everything is a procedural, AI-driven simulation of the systems of nature, seen from the points of view of everything in the Universe.

"Learn to change what you are to create worlds within worlds within worlds, or let go any time to allow Everything to take over and produce a never ending documentary about the world you live in."

Maybe it's the spiritual sequel to Nested I've always wanted? And now that I've mentioned Nested, it is inevitable that I spend half an hour poking at it. You should follow my lead.

I can't think of the last time I've wanted to play something as much as I now want to play Everything, without knowing what playing Everything might actually involve. I'm hoping for worlds within worlds that I can observe at my leisure, from any available perspective and how ridiculous is it to think that I might get exactly that. I can't wait. So much so that I'm probably going to buy it on PS4 next week.

Look at these happy bears.
