View Full Version : Brilliant documentary game - The Cat and the Coup, free on Steam

Just noticed The Cat and the Coup on Steam this evening. It's about the overthrow of the Iranian prime minister in '53. It was free; I was intrigued. The gameplay is based on very simple 2-D physics puzzles, and it took me ten minutes to play through, but the game is very, very beautiful and rather haunting.

It also teaches its subject sparingly, but effectively. At the end, I found myself repeating the old, Aaron Sorkin line, "Look at what we can do." This is a wonderful game that I'm very glad I took the few minutes out of my day to play. I'd love to see more like it:

The Cat and the Coup has been a finalist for a number of awards. I am pleasantly surprised that Steam decided to carry it. It is both beautiful and informative. For those who don't/won't use Steam, you may download from this website http://coup.peterbrinson.com/, which also has links to articles about the 'game'.
