sometimes a mediocre game is your only option
turn-based strategy is basically full of garbage, but if you want to play a real strategy game you might end up playing garbage for thousands of hours...
because it's about skateboarding

i can't think of any
games just aren't universal enough
maybe FTL if I had to pick something
possibly quake 3 arena if you extend it to 20 years instead of 5, but even that's pretty...
civ 6 is probably going to be an improved civ5
play civ4 though. civ6 won't replace it
it's a console game made by people who probably never played doom or quake
it's quite literally a bunch of halo/call of duty players being assigned to make a doom game

i buy a few every year, but when they always fail to be better than doom (1993/1994) i don't know why i keep doing it

i don't know of any modern MMO that's just a single game
there can be the real MMO with artificial delays that players wait for and there are other things to do in it for the people who play it...

did you just wake up from a 15-year coma?
the idea that there are tons of people playing RTS games (at least in multiplayer) is a fantasy. moba isn't rts fyi
there's a lot wrong with the rest...

the base-building term is just referring to the resource management decisions (which tend to originate from your "base" in the UI), even if it doesn't make any English sense
it wasn't as good as far cry 1 (SP) or crysis (MP), but it could be fun if you made it fun and i wish we got more games like it rather than linear scripted call of uncharted: corridors of battle or...

you can't really strip out the resource-management (which is the strategy part of real-time strategy) and just leave the tactics
build orders are a problem when they are the same every time and...

well, the decision-making that doesn't devolve to fast-paced tactics involves the resource management and overall strategy. "how do I balance spending between expansion and technology and military?"...

i'm not saying micromanagement is bad - just that people aren't going to make enough of those games for the subgenre to be considered "alive"
i've played tens of thousands of hours of traditional...

RTS will continue to exist as the only genre where you can see and control really massive battles
if someone who isn't a noob decides to make one of these games one day, then the side effect of...
you could play a flag-capper in tribes
or just play free for all in multiplayer and don't camp powerups
most single player campaigns have a lot of stopping
some games have a sort of separate...

while the history and/or revisionist history may or may not be true, does it actually matter where the original civ team went?
i find the notion that later games are somehow inadequate simply...
ctf/tdm would probably fix a lot of what's wrong with the game, but there's still no powerups on the map which is how arena shooters prevent camping
that said, cod-style games do manage to have...
to me it feels literally like tf2 with twice as many classes
i dont know if they'll add some other modes to differentiate it, but as of now there's nothing in common with arena shooters except a...
isn't moba mainly about build orders for your hero to get upgrades to beat the enemy composition/upgrades? and some sense of progression through the game? you level up and stuff
played a few hours.
idk why I was expecting a FPS moba
what they gave us access to is just TF2 with some different characters. and ultimates.
I expect if you like TF2 and don't hate...
in terms of business, i have heard that the cons of being very critical of mainstream stuff far outweigh any benefits that you get from being honest
nobody who reads this garbage cares if you were...
day 1 user reviews are awful
but if you ignore that nonsense, most users are more qualified to talk about games than professionals are just because they usually play more than a couple hours and...
i'll probably try it out and then complain about 10 different ways it's worse than quake or et
i'm a fan of iron grip warlord. i think an action game is the best way to play something that isn't very strategic
it also lets you do cool stuff with verticality that RTS controls never get right
i've played maybe 1000 hours of this
the game has lots of potential. like magic the gathering, there are so many different & complex card combinations and different ways to make a deck.
