one of the reasons why MOO2 is so much fun is the way in which it's game mechanics interact.

using cards, you summon automated troops on a battlefield, and cast spells.
part of the fun is in the deck building, part is in the frantic battles.

there's a soft synth of which the dev made a fake pirate version. it's GUI would melt over time, and IIRC the sound quality degraded too. sounded like a waste of time and effort to me.

i don't know the minigame you guys are talking about, but when i hear the word "minigame" i think of well integrated things like the Explorer in Age of Empires 3. i love that kind of layered gameplay.
