A classic case of overhyping things, really. It is a nice game, quite charming in its own way, but it has some design flaws that made me drop it after a while. I really felt balance was just bad, and...

Alternatively, you can just watch Warcraft/Starcraft plot as a youtube vid. That is how I "replayed" Warcraft 3 recently. Old RTS campaigns are often terrible.
If only it wasn't hidden in a horrible Bethesda game. Still stuck in that title somewhere, with the design putting me off strongly.

So, I dived into Unexplored and I found it quite excellent in some aspects. Thematically, it looks like a terminally boring roguelike-like roguelite (find the Amulet of Yendor! You can quaff unknown...

So I hear the game is a bit sexist. Discuss.
On a more serious note, even though I know, from practically everyone, that this is a very good game and I will definitely play it soon-ish, the...
You dodged a damned bullet there, Alms, at least half of my appendages twitched when you called Invisible Inc. a "flash game".

Tried playing Beat Cop. While I like the idea of managing one street, Papers Please's style chores, pixel graphics etc. the fact that you can't quickly skip conversations is infuriating. If you try...

It is mostly mechanical, not narrative. Rather different than FTL, though, more of a tactics game.
Well, I can just reply a year later, I guess!
I didn't mean to condemn the medieval...

That's what I was asking about. It was one of the weaker points of their games, and it was not just military. The trees were just boring, with each item being "now your thingy gives +10 resource of...

Did their usual problem, namely research being mostly a very transparent number increase, get a bit better? Hate it in ES, it was slightly better in EL, so I am curious about ES2.

Took a dip into two well-known roguelikes, Brogue and Tales of Maj'Eyal, as well as tried returning to the updated Stellaris: Utopia and I must say I ended up disappointed with all of them.

It does show even they themselves got a bit confused about what their actual vision was. Disappointing but unsurprising, considering how huge such a project is. Still, a pity they did not have a...

I always read the Crucible as some obfuscated method of convincing the Catalyst, really, not controlling it. It was a messy idea, though, but we all know that.

It actually makes me lose interest faster. With complex games like these, I want time to familiarize myself. Big patches invalidate it, mostly.
But I guess it depends on the player. Some will...

Were they though? The Catalyst was their representation, hive mind (of hive minds), central node or somesuch, but just being unified in purpose doesn't mean they were mindless, does it?

They have the classic "prime directive" which is an old AI-related trope - an attempt by their creators to contain them within a set goal, something that inevitably gets subverted, even if...

Tritagonist, not much to add but I love these kind of AI deliberations. This angle is why I did like the whole reaper/Catalyst deal. The problems presented are difficult and Catalyst's exposition...

A demonstration in how subjective everything is, eh. That is why I have long stopped condemning people for not liking what I like. You just never know how something will resonate with a persons...

Don't try to tryhard and play it on a harder difficulty like I did. Reduce the difficulty if the combat starts wearing you down. Final fight is okay, though.
I didn't haaate the combat, exactly,...
This topic pops up around these parts now and then.
All I am gonna say is fuck dogfights. It doesn't have to be realistic, just different from dogfights. Even Rebel Galaxy was more interesting,...

Unless you are a die-hard Shadowrun completist fan, I recommend just skipping it and playing Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Cut.
This is a game I would have to mention every time I post in...

Such a powerful game, for all its flaws, probably one of the most profound experiences I got from gaming. Certainly one that transcends much of the game trope bullshit and arrives in the sphere of...

Just don't go discussing it over the internet, heh heh.
Now, I love Spec Ops: The Line and I did find the White Phosphorous scene quite powerful and crucial to the plot, it was probably the least...

Most DLC in Bioware games is terribly overpriced. That's the whole point of this model.
