[VS] Official Outfit Logo, Font and Graphics
At long last, the outfit finally has its 'Official' Logo, font and graphics!
This post serves as a repository of currently in use art assets.
Note: Above large files and should only be used by those who would like to use the elements to create their own variant of the logo.

We don't need to link both supermassive files. Just the .psd should be fine, since that's the one everyone seems able to open. Just realised it's the old link from Cooper's post in the other thread, this is the new link for the fixed version: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bp5hvb9e6d92xe8
Could possibly replace the note with one about how it's an unreasonably large file and should only be used by people who want to use elements from the design to make their own. Perhaps need another large-scale lossless file for people that just want to scale down instead (flattened layers, about half the resolution as the original, .psd with transparent background)?

Regarding the note about downloading, Ill update the original post. Its not exactly large, even at several MB, so its not that big a deal even for people who want to scale it down. One file for both has the benefit of both flexibility and ease of use, so downloading a slightly bigger file isnt that big a deal I wouldnt say. Only takes a minute!
That said, if you want another version on there that is just a flat scaleable, feel free to host one and drop the link here, and ill add it. If you want it added to the website, you will have to contact somebody with access to it because I cannot.

I would consider this good enough as a 'master file' to scale down from, with the layered one still there for making variants.
Re: custom decal purchases, seems like it would makes sense to have it as a one-off buy that changes depending on what outfit you are in (like a guild tabard in WoW). Then again, I can imagine them trying to monitise the hell out of it by making you buy a new one for every outfit (although that would be unbelievably douchey). Anyone know what T-Bone is actually doing with the logos? Perhaps he's just using them to develop the decal uploader rather than something more exciting...

It seems to me they have two options. One is a decal uploader and upon logging into a server your client downloads all decals for all outfits on that server. Which should be a handful of MB.
The alternative is to have decals be something like an SVG or something similar with an in-game designer. Go see APB(reloaded) for a good example of how complex images can be made from a pre-determined set of primitives and thus keep file sizes really small. (If all you are supplying is info like position & colour for pre-set primitives you are passing a tiny amount of information in comparison to a raster of any type).
There is, of course, the third alternative. Which is a crap alternative, but I wouldn't put it past SOE. Which is to have outfit decals downloaded on-the-fly as you encounter them. Even a few dozen KB downloaded & written to HDD in the middle of a firefight is enough to cause stuttering..."KING GEORGE IS A FROG

Besides, there is no need to flatten the image before copying, at least not if you are using photoshop as you can use the copy merged shortcut and paste it into a new document.
Anyway, Ill stick it up there because it doesnt hurt to have options.

Yeah, my use of the word 'flatten' might have confused things there. I was actually referring to distortions that occur when you dramatically resize a layered image, which are avoided by just merging the layers. Having a pre-merged version for people to scale down just avoids any potential distortion problems.

Barring the planet it wouldn't be hard to turn it into an SVG, the sketchy bits may not come across 100% the same but would be fairly close.
I can probably knock one together sometime if it was needed.

I agree with Cooper that they aren't actually putting them in the game, but using them to test that whatever tool they are working on can handle them.
If they were actually planning to put them ingame they would have made a more formal request, with requirements (file type, file size, image dimensions) and they would register which image belongs to which outfit (and their server)
